'11 MS JUCO DB Izauea Lanier (Tennessee Commit)

This came from Aubbie Mod.... "Although, at the time I didn't want to say for sure that it was grades! Now it's pretty much common knowledge! His spot was being held with the stipulation that he would be a Dec. graduate and thus be able to join the team in Jan. That appears to no longer be the case, and his spot will now go to a HS player. We know that admissions dept is tough on guys with grade issues. If this is the case and may not be admitted, its probably better to part ways now and give him the chance to find another option that suits him rather than wait and sweat it out to the end. The staff has made it a point not to have academic casualties pop up. Parting ways now may be best for both sides. The staff has time to pursue other "safer" options."

Translation: He was not interested in Auburn so we immediately decided he did not have the grades to get in.

I was in a chat was James Bryant and he said that Lanier was DEFINETELY our next commit! :D
CB - Lanier, Gordon, Coleman
CB - Jackson, Teague, Evans
FS - Waggner, Randolph
SS - Brewer, Martin
But this would be great ^ but, i'd put anthony anderson in there too! He's been playing pretty good for us the past few weeks

Waggner is not physical enough to play safety. For that reason, I think Jackson stays at safety next year.

wont start over gordon... gordon will be one of the top corners in the SEC next year book it

I agree. Gordon is going to be one of the starters at corner next year. The guy has incredible potential. He'll only get better. People seem to forget he's still just a freshman, so of course he'll have some struggles.

I agree. Waggner is the one that would likely stay at corner. They flat out need Janzen at safety. After him there is an enormous dropoff.

"I visited Troy this past weekend. It was OK," Lanier said.

"That's good. I like that fact because basically what I've been doing is evaluating everyone's depth chart trying to see where everything's at," Lanier said. "But, it was good to hear a coach say I can come in and play if I come in and do the right things and learn the defense quick."

"If I feel comfortable with it and I like what's happening around Tennessee then I think I will commit then, it just depends on how the visit goes," Lanier added.

- VQ article. Sounds like a done deal.
