'11 MS JUCO DB Izauea Lanier (Tennessee Commit)

Would really like to get Lanier. Spigner would be a nice get also.

Probably only have room for Lanier and another safety that way we can put Jackson at corner next year. We need Moore because he could step in and start right away. People said he was going to start for USC this year. I personally think Brewer is going to be a beast, and the coaches love him. With an offseason with Wylie and Coach Joseph and Coach Sirmon, he should have all the rust off. If not, you still have Martin, Randolph (If qualified), or Randolph that can start there as well.

Yea we're not getting both. Just stating I agree a Juco CB is a must and the two I want are Lanier and Spigner. Lanier has the size and all the skills while Spigner has the speed man and could be a lockdown corner while also help out in the return game as well.

In a perfect world we would take both but we just don't have the room for both in this class.

How you projecting the last few commits? We have 7 left that can come in (not counting sign and place guys) if Loften qualifies.

For sure:
Lanier
Wright
Clear
Richardson

That leaves us with 3 left.

1. Moore
2. Pagan
3. Bellamy/Huggins/Bigelow/Kid from WVA

I'm not the guy to be asking about projections haha! I just read here and listen to what the people "in the know" have to say.

What I'd like to see though...Couch, Lanier/Spiegner(sp?), Clear, Wright (Or another DT, I really think we need 2 more DTs), Richardson, Bellamy/Bigelow, Newberry/Pagan, and the OLineman from Miami that's visiting. I know that leaves us without a linebacker which we desperately need but...

Who knew we'd have not enough spots left at this point with this many quality players still interested?

I really hate to say this because I'm a Bearden guy myself and a D. Young fan but if we did get Bellamy or Bigelow I feel like we should drop Young's scholly...that would open up one extra spot which would be really nice for a Linebacker to fill. I know I will get bashed for saying that but that's how I feel about it. (I know Devrin Young isn't going anywhere people, thanks).

You want Devrin Young gone? You are not a true Vol Fan. :)

I agree with you about Dervin Young -- if we get either Bigelow or Bellamy, he is a logical candidate for a grayshirt. Depending on how things play out, we might need to find a couple more to go with him -- a lot of very good players still out there who we are sitting very well with.

I am still curious why Auburn suggested Lanier look around -- mainly concerned about grades, which appears to have been the original problem that sent him the JUCO route. He might have a problem with his JUCO grades or he might not have the required math course. Just speculation at this point, though.

Normally most schools would rather take a HS player to develop over a 4-5 year span, but schools needing immediate help usually need to go the JUCO route to get experienced players who can start right away. That is our situation. I thought Auburn had the same problem we do, but perhaps not.

Either way, we desperately need some JUCO help this year, and on paper Lanier looks to be a perfect fit -- a 4* with 3 to play 3. I trust the coaches to make the right decision on him.

No Couch? We need another DT besides Wright!

Add Couch, delete Moore (staying in L.A.).

That HamptonVol guy is a loose cannon

Yea, most of the time he is way out in left field.

Couch HAS to be a part of this class.

I mean if we get Bellamy/Bigelow I don't see where Young ever steps on the field!!

It does not matter who we get at RB that is not who he will be competing against. He is a KR/PR. Might get some snaps as 3rd down back/slot WR at some point.

And that's what I'm saying I see Neal as running back with Poole first year... Bellamy/bigelow return man and then second year either one splitting carries with Neal or maybe taking over backfield

The coaches have said they want young returning kicks.
