'11 LA WR Jarvis Landry

Yes, I know. I'm not saying I don't like the kid, but Arnett is going to have a big impact on this team fairly quickly. I'm not so sure you could say the same for Landry.

Sabo are you serious? Bigger, stronger, catches the ball just as well. Maybe Arnett runs his routes a tad better but only a tad. Landry is college ready now. And Landry can play the slot too.

We'll see how it shakes out. I like Arnett's size better and he has all the moves. Landry is a good player. I just think people underestimate how good Arnett will be. He'll have a chance to step in and contribute right away and fits what we want to do underneath so well.

Landry looked awesome in the AA game. He's definitely a baller. I know LSU has talent but I don't see how that young man doesn't see the field his first year.

IMO, if this kid all the sudden decided he wanted to come to UT, you make room for both. To big a need for playmakers on this roster.

Arnett is a good slot WR. I feel like Landry could play in the slot and on the outside. Both a very good players in their own regard though.

I missed Landry in that game, I did see Bradley Sylve make at least one great catch. What did Landry do?

Laundry looked alot taller than what I thought he was when he was playing in the AA game. I always thought he was around 5'8 ish and a slot receiver.

It kind of scares me that we are bringing in WR to visit all of the sudden. I feel as though we are good to go at that position. It makes me think that either D Arnett might not be solid to us or the staff is worried we won't sign a full class and aren't as well of as we think they are with some of the prospects we discuss on VN. Hope I'm wrong! I always get worried around this time of year.

Why would you be worried we are bringing in a kid as talented as Landry to visit?

I know, but the fact that we are going after WRs now, all of the sudden is what worries me. We haven't seen any movement on WRs sine Arnett committed.

I hear you, UTitan. No doubt, this is a stressful time of year for us, but oh so exciting at the same time!

I don't necessarily agree with you though on that logic, although I cannot fault your line of thinking because it makes sense. However, I believe that if any talented player of this caliber is interested, you do anything but turn your back on them. I understand we have some more pressing needs, especially on DLine, however, I look at recruiting like I would the NFL draft. You take the best talent left on the board, if that fills a need, wonderful, if not, you go out and find a free agent or pull in someone off the waiver wire to get you by until you can fill the need with talent. In college, you don't have those flexibilities, but you do have transfers, walk-ons, and players at other positions that may be converted for the short-term.

I have no doubt that CDD will find a way to address all of our needs one way or another. We have to realize though that his plan isn't just a one or even a two year plan, it likely reaches out to three or four years, and I doubt he believes that (with or without this athlete) he will fill ALL of our glaring weaknesses/holes in this class. I wish it were possible, but with the scholarship limits these days, it just isn't realistic. He knows that some of these guys, ones that I am sure many of us probably are counting on filling holes for us, in actuality will end up being busts and won't fill anything except a practice roster or splinter removal duty.

Just try to sit back and enjoy the ride, because it never goes down how you believed it would. Surprises are the only rule in the recruiting game, I just hope the positive surprises outnumber/outweigh the negative ones.

Go Vols!

Ahhh no! Landry is hands down the most college ready wr in the country. Deion Sanders says he is the most natural wr he has seen since Jerry Rice. The kid has the best hands for a hs prospect that I have ever seen. He is hands down the best route runner and most physical despite being 5-11 181. He will see the field very early at LSU and could even lead the team in receptions every year thereafter. Arnett is a good player and will improve but he is not in the same class as Landry.

I like Arnett. :)
