'11 LA DT Mickey Johnson

I would rather have Wright than Mickey. Heard from some friends familiar with Mickey's HS that he may have peaked physically (ala Chris Donald), yet he still didn't dominate in HS. TIFWIW.

the guy benchs 500 pounds i am pretty sure he will be fine. When i was a freshman in highschool on a 1A team we had a line man who could get 350 and i hated even doing walk throughs with him because all he had to do was extend his arms to move people.

You must hate Gabe Wright and want him to waste 4 years of his life with the gayness of the SEC.

It's his choice if he wants to go into that risky situation, if the NCAA actually decides to go into a deep investigation of Scamgate

I think Mickey's situation mirrors Fulse. He likes us, but not all the way. I'd say Arkansas.

Bingo!! You hit the nail on the head -- but you hit the wrong nail. In the end, neither Fulse nor Mickey were takes, although for slightly different reasons. It is highly unlikely that Mickey will be a Vol but if somehow he has convinced the staff that his grades will be in order by summer this post could be incorrect. That possibility, though, is very, very doubtful, which is why I say he is not a take.

Fulse was ruled out by having too many better players remaining on our board whom we would take before him. But the real similarity is in their academics -- both are likely to go the JUCO route. Although that is not a certainty, if we were to take one of them, it would be summer before we knew for sure they would qualify and if they failed to qualify, we would have wasted a scholarship that we could have given to bring in a 4* player that could have helped us -- probably this year. With our numbers crunch, we could not afford that kind of risk.

So, you may well ask why we are recruiting them so hard now, even though we know we cannot risk signing them. The answer to that question is that in 2 years, they will be coming out of JUCO and they could end up being much better players then than they are now. We very well could be recruiting them again, and we want them to be receptive to us then.

Great post.

GBO!!!!!!

Yea The announcement was set for 9 didnt say weather Eastern time or Central I as on his facebook page. All the Arkansas fans are dissapointed but telling him congrats on his commitment to LSU. These were post from the last 5 mins.

Well, scratch him off our list. Too bad, liked this kid.

Really need to land either Wright or Jernigan now.

It's hard to get DT's out of the state of Louisiana if LSU wants them. However, this might help us with Jernigan this weekend.
