I voiced questions about a top linebacker in KY say compared to a top 10 LB in, say Florida or Texas.

Hope things go fine for the kid. At least he did not throw in with KY football.

It will be interesting to see how he fairs out in California.

Sanctions don't seem to be working on USC. They seem to be signing just as many kids as always.

Wonder what kind of nonsense they are telling these kids?

If the kid from Florida keeps his verbal to UT, it will be fun to see who fares better over the course of their careers.

Lathers, Donald, Askew: who will turn out better for UT. Ratings don't mean anything once a kid arrives and applies himself.

Lathers has played. Donald was a wash-out. Askew is still working at it.

I don't think the UK fans pushed him there. This is classic Kiffin. Stay under the radar until NSD for the surprise. Dawson has probably wanted and had decided to go to USC for a while now.

Lamar is an impressive athlete and with a 3.85 GPA a pretty smart kid. I would have liked him to be a Vol but with Curt Maggitt, it isn't a hugh loss.

Would have loved to have Lamar and I wish him luck but I've heard some on here say Maggitt may be better.. I don't know enough about them to make that call but it has been said...

I moved on. I am start to worry about the rumors that Maggitt has been talking to UF's staff. More important than ever that we get his LOI.

Good Luck to Lamar but the exact same thing that happened with Ambles is going to happen here. Remember how psyched Markeith was to be a Trojan? He couldn't wait to get out there and then as soon as he did, he wanted to come back home. Going to LA for a visit is a blast but spending the next 4 yrs of your life there, especially when your a momma's boy and are thousands of miles from everything you've ever known, is a different story. He'll be calling UK, UT, UF etc about transferring come next December. Mark my words.

With the sanctions being imposed next season on USC recruiting, it will almost guarantee he'll start for 3 or 4 years....In LA...for an NFL pipeline program...good education...beautiful girls...the beach.

It all depends on your priorities. He will play and he will be great regardless.

well, i am sick. The only info I bring here and it turns out to be wrong. The coach that told me he was going to UT just text me and said they were all shocked this morning when they learned it would be USC. It sounds like Dawson didn't really make a decision until last night.

It was Lamar's choice and he made it. I am happy for the kid. We can't get them all. He is a great LB and would have been great anywhere he went. I don't like it anymore than the rest of you, but he choose USC and that's that. No need to bash the kid, say we didn't want him, that he won't pan out, etc. I am glad to see a recruit actually make his own decision. So tired of the parents and other factors being the reason. I wish it would have been UT, but it is what it is. Good Luck to Lamar in the future.

Gotta agree with Gen. Jack. Lane Kiffin??? Stay away from that guy. They are headed for more trouble in SC book it. The sad part is he and CEO started the relationship last year and it just carried over. Good luck kid riding the bench for 3 years and no chance of competing on a national level for 2. Listen, it's likely that the sanctions on USC remain unchanged after the appeal is resolved. For a kid who wants to play from day 1, regardless of whether they win or lose the game, and doesn't really care about going to a bowl game, USC is an ideal scenario. Roster depletion over the next several years guarantees playing time.

Ask Markeith Ambles how much he's been living it up in SC. Totally different story than visiting for a weekend. Markeith would've come back home in a heart beat had an SEC school of his choice allowed him to. Kid hates it at USC.

This also may not be a football decision. Depending on his major, USC is a very good school and for somebody from that area, it would be hard to pass up based on academics.

I am not saying that TN or KY are not good schools at all, but USC does have some top level programs.
