Quote:
Walk-on tight end who has worked his way up a spot on the second team as a redshirt freshman... good run blocker who showed signs of improving in the pass game.
Player Bio: Andrew Power - SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS

Here are some practice reports on him from last year when he was the #2 TE at USCjr as a redshirt freshman. He was beasting:
Quote:
Of the Tight Ends, Wes had the one very bad play were he dropped the pass from Garcia, but he made a few shorter catches to redeem himself through the rest of the practice. He was not the most impressive TE tonight however. Andrew Power had a very good night catching pretty much everything in his direction. He was used mainly on the shorter, and out rotes off the bootleg action, but he didn't drop anything as the others in his squad did.
Quote:
The play of walk-on TE Andrew Power during the spring made it easy for coaches to send McKnight back to defense. Power, a redshirt freshman from Myrtle Beach, was not on the pre-spring depth chart. Now he’s listed as the backup to starter Weslye Saunders.
Quote:
Power made an early impression, and had a very good Spring workout. He came in as a walkon, and overall, matched Saunders ability in catching passes, and He actually looked better blocking than Saunders did. He came out of nowhere as a Walk On, but this guy showed some really nice ability this Spring. Definitely deserving of the two spot on the depth chart right now.
Quote:
Power has great size for the position. 6'4 and in between 250-260. He's made some nice grabs in practice so far so I think he's impressing everyone. Justice has done well here and there and so has Triglia. Cliff will also get his work in at TE. It's starting to sound like the position will produce like J. Cook did last year

Bring in lots of TE's if you plan to play power football.. not to mention they are versatile down the line.. move to OT, DE. That's what Stanford is doing as well.

Supposedly Dooley likes to run 2 & 3 tightends on nearly every play. If that's true then you need all you can get for depth.

Must be for the '10 class because he hasn't played a down for Arizona Western yet, looks like he'll have three to play three as well. He is a pretty big guy too, 6'5 261lb. What made him transfer from South Carolina? Also is Arizona Western where our homeboy went?

Edit: If its indeed for the class of 2010 why not add one more OL/DL linemen?

Hmm just checked out his USCjr profile it says he's a former walk-on not encouraging even if he worked his way of the depth chart...

rivals does say '11 class graduating in December so I guess he would be an early enrollee for '11.

I think with what Dooley has walked into, you'll see him take more JC players than he would like to.

Yes I'm fairly certain he's an EE for 11. Teammates with DT stud Jesse Williams, could be a move to help there as well.

Tight end Andrew Power or Arizona Western College (Yuma, Ariz.) has committed to sign as part of Tennessee's Class of 2011.

He selected to Vols over Nevada. Memphis, Utah State and North Texas also offered.

Power, originally from Myrtle Beach, S.C., began his college career as a walk-on at South Carolina.

He then moved on to Georgia Southern before landing at Arizona Western.

Per ESPN Recruiting.....

Not that impressive of schools but I'll deal with it if we can land his DT teammate.
