'11 JUCO DT Maurice Couch - UT Commit

Just interested to hear where he thinks he will land.

I understand...not trying to be a jerk...

Montrell said in the Terrance Coleman thread that he gets the feeling we're starting to recruit Coleman again because we're not feeling good about higher rated DT's we're in on...

That's a good example of Montrell's pessimistic tendencies that I was telling you about...

When in doubt think negative

I understand what you're saying but he may be correct about some of the recruits he is talking about. Although I do think he has been wrong on a few as well but who's perfect not even the best of the best get it right all the time.

Yeah Miami just offered and Couch said that is his "dream school".

This kid has offers from everybody now. I don't think we are going to land him. What other jucos are we in on?

How is that negative? It's the truth.

Sheldon Richardson is the only one that I know of but there are a couple more that we're in on.

"I would say USC, Kansas, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Ole Miss," he said. "I'm shaping it up into my final five. I'm going to break it down and evaluate each school as I visit. There's really no order, those are just the main five schools I'm looking at
hard."

Tennessee: "Coach Chuck Smith is probably the coolest guy in the business. I honestly believe he will really take care of you. Coach Smith came and saw me over the summer. It's all about football with him. He played in the league."

I'd love to land Couch & Wright. Add them to Carson & we would be looking alot better at DT for next year.

I still think the SEC math requirement will be a problem with Couch, as it is with many JUCO's.

I would love to see us land any three of Wright, Bell, Johnson, and Gosha. It appears we are in good shape with them and with our need, our ability to show them early playing time, and Coach Chuck Smith, pulling 3 of them should be doable.

What I would like even more is to land two of them and be able to place Tiny Richardson and Cam Clear on the DL (after giving Clear a shot at TE, of course).

I like the idea of Richardson on the O-line better than defense

"Everybody loved coach Gill but that really wasn't a surprise," Couch said. "The coaches said that coach Gill really wants me at Kansas. It feels good to know that the head coach is involved and showing that much interest in me. It shows me how much Kansas wants me there."

"It's right on the tip of my tongue that I want to say Kansas is where I am going," he said. "But I have told myself I need to take a couple visits to other schools and make sure I make the right decision. For a school to beat out Kansas they would have to do something special."

Also said his top 3 is Kansas, USC, & Tennessee. Will visit USC in November & Tennessee in December. Looks like it will be hard to beat out Kansas, we will really have to WOW him on his visit.

If he does in fact wait until the end of the season and take his visits to USC and Tennessee, he'll hopefully have a few more really ugly losses by Kansas to think about when he makes his decision. If they lost to North Dakota State and got crushed by Baylor 55-7, I can only imagine what Nebraska will do to them

Why are we having such a hard time with landing DT's? With CCS and playing time to offer, I would have thought we would have a couple of highly rated JUCOs committed. Without quality DTs, it doesn't matter how many 5* we take at other spots. Is it the grade thing or are we just the fat chick?

I am still confident that his visit here (if he takes it) will sway him into wearing the ORANGE
it cant hurt us with the way that their season is going

Its the retarded SEC JUCO math requirement, that's why most JUCOs wind up signing else where.
