'11 HI OL Paulay Asiata

Asiata is someone you don't pass over unless you're Texas. Vols still like him, Oregon, UCLA, some other schools. Last I heard was UCLA was the team to beat at this moment.

This is a thread about Paulay Asiata right? ;)

Couldn't have said it better myself. I am sick of reading through all the idiot posts on this site that some 20 year old brat who thinks he is an expert talent evaluator put up on a daily basis.

One of the main guys on here thinks he is an expert QB evaluator because he plays two hand touch with his neighborhood kids, and watches a substantial amount of video of these recruits. :post-4-1090547912: I really wish I was making that up, but he posted that in the thread about the kid Kiffin recruited that went to USC instead.

Very few people on here have what can be referred to as an expert opinion. Same goes for folks who have actual inside info.

Vols_Fanatic518's delivery may not have been the best but there is nothing wrong with him expressing an OPINION on a player(s) he might think are better than Asiata.

It's getting to the point around here where you can't even express an opinion (know matter how you phrase it) without someone getting butt hurt and going all PMS on you..

A few Quick notes before I add Tngirl and this thread to my ignore list

1. I do believe Clear and Richardson are priorities over Asiata, and I believe that UT is not trying that hard with Asiata, sorry for my delivery on that, but thats my opinion, I am entitled to it, and nothing you say to insult me will change my opinion, even if you are related to the player I inadvertently insulted

2. I was an idiot in my past posts, however, if you think thats me being insulting or mean, you need to think, I could've been a whole lot meaner, and I have resisted being a whole lot meaner, although you may not realize it, that resulted in my **** posts

3. I do not leech of others opinions, this board is in love with Asiata, I am not, I have an argument, and an opinion that is my own, agreeing with certain people is not leeching off their opinion.

4. I am not an idiot and I am not 20 and I am not a brat thank you very much VolDC, having an opinion that differs from the main stream is not idiotic, my posting style in this thread is shameful, but given the conditions I was writing under, that is understandable

5.Once again, Sorry to TNgirl for any insults to your family, I did not intentionally try to insult them, however I am of the opinion that Clear and Richardson are better offensive lineman prospects than your brother in law. Given your response you had to expect me to respond.

tl;dr: I am sorry for my terrible incoherent posts, but I still hold my opinion. I wish you people would let others present their opinion, rather than bashing anyone who disagrees with you

While I completely agree with the spirit of your post, I find it pretty classless to tell a recruits family member that their kid isn't good enough and being recruited over. You either aren't a parent or just don't get it. I can't make it anymore simple than that.

Fair enough recovery. This is change I can believe in.:salute:

I never said that he (Asiata) was being recruited over and I'm not sure Vols_Fanatic518 did either. It seems he just gave an opinion that others were better but I could be wrong on his exact words. As far as telling a recruits family they aren't good enough and being recruited over, coaches do it ALL THE TIME. They may not use those exact words but they still do it. Personally I'm not a big fan of it but it is part of the game. Take Juda Parker for example if you believe what you hear..

Asiata is a very good prospect, but I'd still take Clear and Richardson both over him. Those are 2 of the top players in the state and are both at a position of need.
Richardson and Clear should be priority 1a and 1b for UT imo.

Haven't been on this board in a while..skimmed through this thread a bit and seems like UT has cooled on this cat? Any late news regarding P.A.? Or is this something that isn't going to happen. Personally, I would love to see some island infusion on Rocky Top. I thought, during the Fulmer years, a pipeline was being developed to Hawaii and would love to see it happen again.

I think we have quite possibly burnt some pretty serious bridges in Hawaii for the time being with our recruitment of Juda Parker. I suspect that unless Dooley does some repair work, he will not be getting any recruits out of Hawaii while he remains as HC.

I hope I am wrong.

Good to see you here Jhop -- long time no read.

I hope you are right about Asiata -- I would love to see us at least evaluate the kid. I suspect that will not happen unless Richardson or Clear goes with someone else, and at the moment, I do not see that happening -- and that is great news for us.

Aside from that, I think we have burned all the bridges from here to Hawaii with Asiata given the way we have handled Juda Parker, unless there is more to that story than we now know. I doubt Asiata would even glance at an offer from us now.

Your opinion would be appreciated.

Nobody bashed you over your opinion of whose better. Rating systems rank kids all the time. The difference is you said this specific kid is better (without any qualification) than your brother. TnGirlinHawaii states directly thats what offended her in post #158.

No one has any problem with you having an opinion on who is a better player or which player is a priority. The problem was you were directly hostile to someone about their family. And while you might have inadvertently insulted the player, you repeatedly insulted her afterward.

Here you are defending objectional things you said by saying you could have said more objectional things. That kind of like apoligizing for keying someone's car by claiming you did them a favor by not stealing it.

Wow, that's might Christian of you.

Whether you realize it or not, its a juvenille threat disgusied as an apology. Regardless of your opinion about someone's ability to play football, its inexcusable behavior coming from someone who claims to be apologizing.

Here's some advice, take or leave it, next time you apologize, don't brag about how much ruder you could be. It doesn't communicate remorsefulness, it communicates latent hostility. But I based on your posts in this thread, I think you knew and intended that.

4. I am not an idiot and I am not 20 and I am not a brat thank you very much VolDC, having an opinion that differs from the main stream is not idiotic, my posting style in this thread is shameful, but given the conditions I was writing under, that is understandable

Yes she took it personal. Its family, she has every right to. Considering you're reaction was to refer to her defense of her brother as garbage in post #155, then that she was "too stupid to see that," in post #160, its impossible to believe it wasn't intended to be personal.

What conditions were you writing under that necessitated telling someone that?

5.Once again, Sorry to TNgirl for any insults to your family, I did not intentionally try to insult them, however I am of the opinion that Clear and Richardson are better offensive lineman prospects than your brother in law. Given your response you had to expect me to respond.

You apologize in a respectful manner, then put it all right back on her (bold). That's hardly an apology at all.

Especially considering you continuted to get more and more insulting and personal over a series of posts, and in the same post you called her stupid, told her she shouldn't take this personal. Now you say your sorry, but then say she provoked it all.

It merits noting that although TNGirlinHawaii did defend her viewpoint, at no point did she attack you on a personal level the way you did on multiple occasions.

Once again Vol_Fanatic518,

tl;dr: I am sorry for my terrible incoherent posts, but I still hold my opinion. I wish you people would let others present their opinion, rather than bashing anyone who disagrees with you

I think its interesting that you are acting like your right to your opinion is what was under under assualt when you told TnGirlinHawaii, and I'm quoting your from post #155 ,

" tbh your argument is garbage, I wasn't strating anything with my post but if you want to start this I'd love to prove you wrong."

You aren't a martyr for free speech here.

In fact, you are the one that was telling someone their opinion was wrong, that you were going to prove in wrong, that they were stupid, and then had the gaul to tell them not to take it personal. And now you are telling a woman you harrassed that you are going to ignore her, because myself and others called you out on your abysmal behavior, as if she is the one to blame.

You aren't the victim, and your last post is nothing but a masquaraded attempt to portray yourself as such.

Yes, that is my opinion.

And yes, I take it personal as a Vol fan that you would be rude to a guest in Big Orange country kind enough to update us on the status two young men we all are interested in, and then behave as if you are the wronged party when you are called out on it.

TnGirlinHawaii, again, I'm sorry about all of this, and hope the best for Pauley, Judah and your family. As a single father of one child I'd also like to say I have nothing but admiration for your husband's and Pauley's father.

What happened to Juda happens all the time in recruiting. It may seem harsh, but in the end it's best for the kid. Nick Saban does it all the time.

quoted for truth

I know what it means, I don't know what he meant when he said it after quoting Vol_Fanatic's post.

I couldn't tell what much he was QFT'ing - the part about Richardson and Clear, which was finally stated in an acceptable manner, or all the other crap, which was still utter crap.

A little bit of news for any who may be interested (probably not many since this thread died in October)...but...Paulay & Juda ended up having a completely undefeated season and as of last night won the state championship game against Waianae, 36-13.

Here are a few quotes from the newspaper this morning:

"...The Crusaders did it with a turnover-free offense and a relentless defense ..."

"...But the Saint Louis offense didn't need much time to build its lead...The Crusaders spent less than 2 minutes on the field on each of their first four touchdown drives...."

Paulay did an amazing job at right Guard & helped the offense to have a turnover-free game and Juda Parker was on fire with multiple tackles (one of which was the Katoosh play of the game), sacks, and a recovered fumble.

Now that the season is over these boys are already planning and are excited for their training for college...:D
