'11 HI DE Juda Parker

A little bit of news for any who may be interested...Juda & Paulay Asiata ended up having a completely undefeated season and as of last night won the state championship game against Waianae, 36-13.

Here are a few quotes from the newspaper this morning:

"...The Crusaders did it with a turnover-free offense and a relentless defense ..."

"...But the Saint Louis offense didn't need much time to build its lead...The Crusaders spent less than 2 minutes on the field on each of their first four touchdown drives...."

"...Waianae's opening drive of the second half showed promise, but a botched handoff led to a fumble recovery by defensive end Juda Parker..."

Paulay did an amazing job at right Guard & helped the offense to have a turnover-free game and Juda was on fire with multiple tackles (one of which was the Katoosh play of the game), sacks, and a recovered fumble.

Now that the season is over these boys are already planning and are excited for their training for college...:D

Good to see you again. I know it got heated last time you were around...

Any word on who is looking at those two guys now-a-days?

THE LAST ALL-AMERICAN ON THE 2011 SELECTION TOUR HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED!!

Welcome Juda Parker from St. Louis School in Honolulu, HAWAII!!! He represents the WEST TEAM!!!

I haven't been as up to date on him, but did we tell him to look elsewhere?

*Edit* I think this probably should be in Football Recruiting. Move if so.*

yes he is no longer committed to us IIRC

YES he is gone

That is great news for Juda -- I am very happy for him. Other than our own recruits, I can't think of anyone I want to succeed more than him.

I'm curious if anyone else watched the entire Army All-American game..

Juda Parker was very impressive to me and although I agree he may be a bit undersized he seemed to be a ball hawk the entire day.. Several tackles, blocked field goal, QB hurries, etc.

In the beginning, I was very skeptical about Dooley and this staff but I want to emphasize the fact that I now believe wholeheartedly in the plan that they have put into place and believe that they are excellent talent evaluators..

The reason I make those statements are to insure people that I am not suggesting that I am more knowledgeable than this staff, I'm just curious about the reasons behind the pulling of his offer..

I understand if they feel we have better options, but I just wonder if it had to do with 1) Level of Competition 2) Character or Academic Issues or 3) Logistics (residing in Hawaii)

Anyone know and did anyone notice how well he performed today??

I'm hoping it was just logistics and the staff looking out for his best interests (and ours, not wanting a kid to transfer out or bail on NSD because he realizes it's too far from home). If it was worry about level of play, then it looks like they screwed up by second-guessing themselves.

Everybody knows he was/is a quality recruit with no known character issues. Slots started filling up and we had interest from de's who were higher on the board. That, coupled with the distance made it a better decision to cut ties

Man, the kid had one accidental block and now we question our coaches?
I made a point to clearly explain that the staff not only has better resources to assess talent but are far more qualified than I am.. I was simply inquiring because the kid looked even better today than he did to me on film..

And just to clarify, his performance was far superior to an isolated "accidental block".. If you get a chance watch the entire game over and keep your eyes on Parker.. Seemed to me they could not block him consistently and he has an awesome motor.. I think he will be an outstanding player somewhere although there are numerous factors that will dtermine that in his future..

I tend to agree with the other guys that the distance played a big role in this..

AGAIN, I HAVE THE UTMOST FAITH IN THIS STAFF AND THEIR DECISIONS!! JUST MAKING AN OBSERVATION!!

To be fair, the West O-line couldn't block anybody consistently. Pretty sure I could have gotten a sack playing on the East's D Line.

Punt/FG blocks in high school all-star games are like tackles - they're so frequent since the special teams are so consistently bad in those games.

6 one way half a dozen the other. Makes no difference. Both teams had major offensive issues. friend

MAJOR OFFENSIVE ISSUES.. of course they did.. It's a high school all star game.. A bunch of high school kids that have been together for a matter of days tend to struggle with developing continuity on offense.. The O-line for the east did not give up 12 sacks though.. That large of a discrepancy is obviously an indication that the talent on that side is at LEAST marginally better..

That is an obvious man.. SERIOUSLY!!!

Yes, I watched the game, and it would have been hard to keep from noticing the play of Juda Parker. He played lights out football, and I am very glad for him. It is certainly possible that our original assessment of Juda was better than it was when we asked him to find someplace else to play football in college. Juda will make somebody a very good DE over the next 4 years.

Just for the sake of clarity and honesty, distance was never an issue with Juda -- we went after Juda knowing full well where he lived. If distance was ever a problem, it was a problem of our own making. We saw his film (especially Chuck Smith, who recruited him) and made him an offer, knowing that he lived in Hawaii. The bottom line is that we decided that we made a mistake when we offered him a scholarship. I am not sure that it was a mistake after watching his performance in the AA game, but that is water under the bridge and that part is over and done.

Again, I wish Juda a very good career wherever he goes, and hope he finds his way into the NFL to join his brother.

OMG that brings back memories. I would've been on the receiving end of one of those, but I was not about to be the QB in an option system. The guy that played instead of me couldn't remember his name after the hit he took.

And too bad we won't have this kid. Would've been nice to have another Hawaiian on the team.

Friend, Juda Parker played for the West..

At the expense of Antonio Richardson, who was matched up with him most of the game. I though both had a good game, they beat each other a few times, but I gotta give AR the credit for getting the best of Juda (This statement includes only the 2,3,&4 quarter as I missed the first.)

ILB Juda Parker, three-star, uncommitted
Assets: Has great lower body structure, is technically sound, and plays hard every snap.
Areas for improvement: Improve upper-body size and strength.
What was most impressive in game: Was in on six tackles and had two and a half tackles for loss. He was at his best staying home and not allowing much bigger defensive linemen to push him off the line of scrimmage.
Conclusion: Currently ranked a 5.6 three-star but he had a good week and a productive game. Though slightly undersized he is an overachiever and deserves to be at least a 5.7 three-star.
