'11 GA RB Isaiah Crowell

Could someone explain to me why Dooley is allowing OVs during the ALA game? I guess it's a rivalry (so the crowd should be pumped) right in the middle of your season, but why would you want a bunch of recruits possibly see you get spanked. I guess they would know regardless of if they were there in person or not but still...

btw. Do we have any chance with Crowell, or do you think he is attending to have a good time? I am thinking he is tagging along for the fun.

Those who can afford it, will still be here on unofficials. I would be willing to say that most of our commits won't take officials, and some will be saved till next season.

this whole not allowing officials thing doesnt make much sense to me.

One on one time is where you win the recruiting battle, especially when your down as a program. Trying to sell losses is a hard thing to do, unless is a big atmosphere. Plus, trying to weed out players that don't perform well after camps is a reason to do it later in the season as well. They will also save some of the officials from this year, and do them next year. You can only carry over so many though, IIRC.

I think it makes a lot of sense when we are still getting kids to take unofficials to games, AND then we get them back on campus for a second time after the football season has ended and much closer to NSD.

I'm not totally sold on it either, but come January it may make alot more sense.

it may , but if the staff is going to have this as their MO, then they dont need to be accepting committments from the Juda Parkers out there. this being said, i understand the nastiness of the recruiting game. but.... if the staff's plan of late season OVs works out great, they may have to send more committments packing. i know it happens, but i hate it for these kids. that is the one thing in competetive NCAA football that really sucks.

I don't know enough about the reasoning to argue for either side.

decisions are always alot easier to make for fans. if it works, ill be happy. it just seems to me, that taking the choice away from recruits, of when they can visit(for free), is a very very dangerous game.

It's because the staff don't have a lot of 1on1 time with the recruits during the season. CDD wants them to take them after the season so they can give them all their attention and build better relationship. So he's asking them that come to be unofficial except for Bama and maybe Miss.

Also the OV usually coincide with a big Bball game. That way the staff gets a full weekend and can give all their attention to the recruits. It always them to also see our crowd at another venue and still see they are just as rowdy there too.

Eric literally posted why we are doing this officicals thing right now, but I would like to add in what Honolulu just said that, with this system, we get max. face time, and the recruits get to have a good time at a basketball game

I am not really sure where UT stands with him and anything can happen on a visit. As a UA fan I like it since he just named us his leader over UGA last week and contiues to watch us play. Now with UGA slipping he might be looking at UT as another option and CDD might be able to work his magic.

One thing I will tell you I would not get excited about anything G Wright says though on another recruit. I would only get excited if it comes directly from IC.

BTW he is also going to announce right after his season now and not wait until Jan or NSD like he had stated before.

Crowell to Bama Wright to Auburn would suck ass.

I do like our chances with Crowell but I think Wright to UT will happen. I think is recruiting for UT very hard and if he feels this will be good I think he will go there. Auburn I feel is a backup in case CDD first real recruiting class does not help to rebuild.

Why would Crowell go to Auburn since they have Michael Dyer. He looks like he will be a very good back IMO.
