'11 GA LB A.J. Johnson - UT Signee

It never ceases to amaze me all the ways people on here come up with to be worried about something...

There is literally nothing out there to substantiate any of this LT talk....yet there's a discussion about it on here and how it might lead to AJ going to UF....amazing :eek:lol:

This.

Everyone always goes into panic mode.

I agee I was so upset/jealous that the UT job was not enough for muschamp but the gators job was. P. O. S, Dooley should remember that when it comes to batteling Muschamp in future.

My phone messed up when I tried replying to this earlier but I wasn't "worried" so much as speculating. It just seems that if his postition coach goes to the school that was second on his list would be a good reason for concern. As far as Lance leaving, I don't know anything about that but people have said that Lance would leave for Muschamp if given the opportunity at DC and he may be as high as second on the list behind Kirby Smart. Idk, thought it was worth discussing.

I cannot imagine why Kirby Smart would even consider switching from Alabama, which is back on top, to an untried, untested staff lead by a coach that has no HC experience. It would be at best a lateral move for him.

I would think they would have to offer him a salary that was higher than Muschamp's for him to make the move. It is that silly.

He'll dfinitely leave if he's offered the DC spot...but I'd be shocked if that happens...I think Muschamp will shoot for a much more proven DC and only offer it to Thompson if he strikes out on several other guys...

As far as Johnson...there's a chance that could happen...but Johnson has also cited Chuck Smith and his love of UT as a major reason he recommitted to us...I think things would still be in our favor in the unlikely chance that Thompson is offered the DC spot

Logically, you would think that the position of Defensive Coordinator is 1 of the two most important hires a head coach can make so Muschamp will probably hire someone he knows well and feels comfortable with.

Since Muschamp is coming from Texas, he will probably try to bring the Texas defensive coordinator with him.

Oh, wait.....

Just curious, and I have not read through all 105 pages to see if this has already been discussed - but I watched his highlight video from the blog section and was very underwhelmed. Didn't see a lot of speed, no total domination as I was expecting based on the hype. Is this just a case of the worst highlight video ever? Maybe taken from his 8th grade year? Not trying to be all negative, was just very surprised.

Everything I have read about him is he is more of a north south player and lowers his shoulders for the big hits. Sounds great to me. Speed is not his forte but power is.:loco:

You won't find a more tenacious linebacker in this class. Johnson is a tackling machine who displays good strength, quickness and power between the tackles. He consistently jolts back blockers in the hole and should continue to do so for Tennessee in college. Not the most fluid, but is an explosive inside linebacker with great downhill and short-range tools, not to mention a motor that never quits.

Tennessee has several candidates to look at for DC if Wilcox leaves:
1. Manny Diaz
2. Randy Shannon
3. Kevin Steele
4. Kirby Smart

Any of these would be good fits. I would love to see us keep Wilcox though.

Wilcox threads must have filled up and this post spilled over.

that's the difference maker IMO! You can't put a "motor" in a kid. That's somethin he is born with. I'm excited about AJ and cant wait to see him wearin the orange. I know ALOT of people have already said that he is a solid committ, but apparently it isnt said enough lol.

THIS KID IS SOLID TO THE BIG ORANGE!!! :loco:

I love all the recruits in this class, but this guy is my favorite recruit, I love hearing that he's tenacious.
