'11 GA LB A.J. Johnson - UT Signee

Meyer will wait until the UA or AA game then he'll take his commit lol Don't know why Meyer wouldn't take his commit during the summer but imo he's better LB atp than Shazier and he fits the Mike LB perfectly like B Spikes.

will you ever admit that we beat you out for a recruit we actually wanted?

So you're saying he wanted to commit to UF back in the summer but Meyer wouldn't let him?

That is such a typical response from a gator fan...and it really surprises me coming from you...

I don't think of you as a UF homer troll at all but your post definitely has those kind of overtones to it

Terrific get, I love Johnson's athleticism and attitude. This young man is a very serious football player who'll enjoy an outstanding career at UT. Two recent pieces on Johnson:

“He’s coachable; he’s got a natural talent; he works hard in the weight room... If he’s not the best linebacker I’ve coached in 26 years, he’s in the top two,” said Gainesville defensive coordinator Jim Pavao, who has also coached Division I linebackers like former University of Georgia player Marcus Washington. “He’s also got great instincts, and he’s a good tackler. You can have all the other stuff, but if you’re not a good tackler, it doesn’t matter.”

“I know I have to be a vocal leader on our football team,” Johnson said. “Coach can put me anywhere on the field and I believe I can be successful.”

Once football season is complete, Miller says Johnson will apply the same work ethic into playing basketball, and then compete at the same level during track and field season in the spring.

“You talk to any coach he plays for at Gainesville, and they’ll tell you that A.J. gives it all he’s got,” Miller said.

lol read my earlier post about Dooley winning this battle...then read to the right...see*lol*....I was talking about him not being a four star or better atp so Meyer didn't give him a committable offer. maybe i should have placed a wink or something so you guys wouldn't bash me for making fun of Meyer's "1% of the 1%" crap and all the Gates that think we can't lose out on recruits we want. From what I've been told this kid has been Vol for awhile now just wanting to get playing the game but the process started to wear on him.

f.o.s.

Really nice pick up. Once again.... looks to be a very solid class coming in next year.

The rebuild continues!

I do not think we are thin at the LineBacker position in general, however, we are thin in talent at the LineBacker position. We need more 4 star LB's in our rotation. Something we have been lacking since Rico McCoy and Jerod Mayo were here.

4* doesn't equate to success. Askew is proof of that.

He's only a redshirt freshman...but given that he was a Fulmer recruit, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he turns out to be the next Chris Donald.
