I'm just going to go ahead and make this generalized statement, and the people it is directed at will know who they are. If you believe Chuck Smith was "a towel boy" and simply "an ordinary assistant coach", then you are a fool. Rex Ryan brought him on to teach his D-Linemen how to get better and oh boy did it ever work. The #1 defense in football. You think you know more than Rex Ryan? Osi Umenyiora? Derrick Morgan? Albert Haynesworth? Patrick Kerney? They are all elite defensive coaches or All-Pro D-linemen. They all went to Chuck Smith for help improving their game. They didn't go to him because they needed a towel. Get real. I'm sick of reading all these lame ass jabs at Chuck.

Nobody said Smith can't coach. Most of the concerns with him are in recruiting. If you don't get the players, it doesn't matter if you have the coaching ability of Vince Lombardi.
Exactly. Being Rex Ryan’s towel boy goes a lot further than it used to.
How many had Orgeron landed this time last year?
CEO was my least favorite coach on the last staff. with that said, he had J. Smith, R. Broussard, and J.C. Copeland at this time last year. it would only be a few weeks before J. Brown and P. Harris committed too. obviously three of them are not Vols now (although Copeland wouldve been had it not been for the coaching change).
so by that count, a for sure 3.
Smith was a Vol from birth. Broussard was an unranked nobody with bad grades. Brown and Harris both JC DT's that obviously could not make the grades. Copeland would have been the only player I would have been excited about unless Orgeron could have convinced the University that they needed a new Liberal Art's Major in Pottery Making because that is the only way 3 of them would have gotten in. Orgeron is all smoke and mirrors. He does a fine job of recruiting to a National Powerhouse that can pick and choose from top talent in his state. It's not like Ole Miss is loaded with top D-line talent... :twocents:
The disdain and lack of confidence some of you have for a current coach that is in his first year on a college staff and first year recruiting, but by all accounts who is also doing a fantastic job of getting us noticed by prospects, is pathetic...not to mention the guy bled for our school.
I imagine you are the guys that wilt under pressure or concede because a rival has more talent or give up when the going gets tough.
