ESPN the Magazine investigates big time D1 Recruiting | College Recruiting Blog - Athletic Scholarships Blog | NCSA

Some interesting numbers in there overall but I bolded the most relevant part to our discussion here. Admittedly this was a small sample size; it would be interesting to see these numbers over extended period.

Yeah. That was a small sample size. That can kind of throw off the numbers. But I agree it would be interesting to see the real numbers.

I think their justification in that small a sample was for their other numbers, like sketchy, sleazy recruiting practices. I'm sure the top recruits get more thrown at them than some of the underrated ones so thus the smaller sample. I still think parents play a huge role in almost every kid's decision and will play a role in Wright's decision.

no idea what is going to happen here..better not to worry and just sit back and good if he comes and oh well if he doesnt.

the only thing that gives me hope is we have neutral parties saying TN in GT09 and some Bama friends of mine. They wouldnt tell me how they know but to not worry that he is a VOL. That was a couple wks ago and then they said same thing yesterday that they still hear its VOL. Not sure but the timing was around the same time as Rumph heading to Bama from clemson which makes me think its where they got it from.

Consider this...your child comes in an hour past his curfew. He gives you a "song & dance" about how something happened that was innocent but made it impossible for him to be home on time. Later, you get a phone call from the parent of one of his friends who informs you there were a bunch of kids, including your son, at a party drinking, etc. In other words, you catch your kid in a bald-face lie and what he was doing is far worse or potentially more dangerous than saying something that may be less than honest during the recruiting process.

The question is this...is your kid a bald-faced liar and has serious and perhaps unacceptable character flaw issues? Or is he a typical teenager...

Oh, one other question as an afterthought...what would you think if dozens of other folks then got on the internet to trash your kid?

Yes, and yes...:)

People forget that AU campus is 15 minutes away from Gabe
Going to the NC celebration is no big deal, it was hardly an unofficial

It's 50/50. Depends on which side of the bed he wakes up. Both sides feel confident to land him.

It's amazing how Columbus gets closer to Auburn on this board every week. By y'alls logic, I should be living in Columbus by mid-February.

Apparently Auburn sucks so hard it is trying to engulf the rest of the US.

I was thinking the same thing though. One week it is an hour then 45 mins now 15 mins.

Gabe should think about all those surprise visits from Mom once that empty nest syndrome hits her. Hope he puts a sock on the door.

I told my daughters that they needed to go to school far enough away so they wouldn't hear this early on Saturday mornings:

" *knock*knock*knock* Hey dear, its your Daddy, I'm popping in for a visit"

Hell, if I was still 17 years old and had grown men calling to ask me where I am and what I'm wearing I'd lie too. Then I'd call the guy from "To Catch a Predator".

TIFWIW but there's a rumor that Gabe Wright may not have counted out UGA afterall...

Could he possibly fool everyone? And commit to what all the in-state UGA commits are calling "The Dream Team" at UGA with all the in-state guys they've gotten.

Possibly another reason we're gunning so hard for T. Jernigan, although the obvious argument there is we'd be gunning for him anyway.

It'll be interesting. But I'm still saying UT here.
