'11 GA DE Ray Drew

“I did have a good time,” he said. “I had a chance to hang out with Christian LeMay, who is one of my good friends.”

The four-star prospect said he is going to do his own research into what each of the remaining schools on his list offer – perhaps without them know it.

“I look into everything,” Drew said. “A lot of coaches don’t know it, but I will call the players and ask them about things: ‘If you had another chance to make the decision would you have made the same decision.’ I will try to get the inside scoop on all of them.”

Drew visited UGA this past weekend, also Drew said UGA is recruiting him as an OLB.

Drew has UGA, LSU, Auburn, Florida, & Tennessee as the schools he is considering.

He said that he loves the mountain scenery of Knoxville, & being able to get coached by the deacon of pass rush in Chuck Smith is something he is looking at. He also said he really likes & respects Coach Dooley. & that he would have early PT here.

Probably a longshot. Can always hope though. Smith is doing a gret job with him.

This is another recruiting story that is very difficult to read since Drew has not talked a lot about where he is leaning.

I think it has come down to a UGA / UT battle. In addition to the UT advantages you list, I would throw out the following:

1) The strong presence of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes on our team, the Vol for Life program, and Dooley's strong emphasis on personal development and maturity are all things that are under appreciated as factors which will weigh in our favor with Drew.

2) The fact that Tennessee is clearly a team on the rise, with youth playing a large part in our resurgence.

3) Georgia's high rate of off field problems will work against them.

4) The importance of Coach Chuck Smith as his position coach cannot be overestimated, in my opinion.

5) Drew would obviously have a shot at early playing time at Tennessee.

6) Finally, taking a longer term view, Drew will need to take into consideration the reality that Richt has been on a downhill slide and has earned a reputation of not making use of the talent he has at his disposal -- think Fulmer. Richt may not be there much longer. At the moment, I think it is almost a certainty that Dooley and Chuck Smith will be here for his entire career.

I like our chances for landing Ray Drew.

I think this is one of the guys Dooley might have a better shot at landing than most are willing to admit.

yep ray drew has been a dawg for sometime. he is recruiting for uga.

Funny, he never mentions anything at all about recruiting for UGA. He never mentions any type of commitment to GA. However around 3:50 in this interview he does state TN is definetly in the mix. Here is the link.

I think our chances are better than GA. Especially with "The Minister of Defense" and his apprentice "The Deacon of Pass Rush". GBO!!

To me that video was him saying UGA is the perfect fit for me and right now I'm looking around at other schools to verify that.

What'd I miss? I didn't hear squat about GA.

Look up the youtube of him interviewing Christian LeMay and you prolly think UGA though.
