This weekend. Said if he can get up there in time he'd like to.

Still working on the details of getting up to Knoxville.

Said if that doesn't help he will go when UT plays Florida so he can see both schools at once. Said it won't matter that one school is on the road or home, he'd be there for both schools.

It might not matter to Drew, but I'd say it matters a heckuva lot our chances!!!!

Yup. He has to absolutley see a game at Neyland or he won't committ here.

Unless he is like Josh Nunes, then just the offer is enough... oh wait.

Unless he is like Jarvis Giles, and just the mountains are enough... oh wait.

Yeah, you are right.

Weakside defensive end
Thomasville, Georgia
Thomas County Central
View Map
Ht:6'5"
Wt:236 lbs
GPA:2.9
Class:2011 (High School)

He already has 11 offers, five from the ACC and five from SEC schools.

Tremendous overall size with great frame and arms like an expansion bridge. Does a nice job sliding down the line of scrimmage to make tackles and has the athleticism to cover kicks at the next level. Drew should end up a national recruit in the class of 2011 with 30-plus offers.

“I’m looking at a number of different things. I’m looking at the relationships with the coaches and everything. I don’t want to go work with a bunch of psychos,” Drew added. “Also, the location and everything, the strength of the program, academic-wise and athletic-wise and player-supported traditions. I like those things in a school.

Since Kiff & O are gone this should help us.

I wonder what he means by this? I hope he has an eye for the future!

In addition to Newberry, the most impressive defensive prospect on the day was Thomasville (Ga.) Thomas County Central defensive end Ray Drew. Drew is tall and lean at 6 feet 5 and 236 pounds with very long arms and excellent speed to the outside. He was too much for most linemen to handle when he used his speed rush and when he mixed things up and changed direction, he left them grasping at air. Drew won all but a few one-on-one battles and was excellent in drills, showing good agility and excellent footwork. One of the highlights of the first day was when Drew went against Newberry when the latter switched over to offense. Newberry got the better of the battle on Saturday.

Drew has offers from Florida State, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Notre Dame and many others early in the process. While he claims no leaders, many feel that the Seminoles are the team to beat. His school sent two players to FSU back in 2008 when defensive tackle Anthony McCloud and running back Debrale Smiley signed. Former FSU great Charlie Ward also hails from the school.

Where does LSU fit into all of this?

"I haven't really heard too much from them," Drew explained. "They've sent me a few things in the mail, and I've actually got one of them hanging on my wall. It says, 'He who stops being better stops being good.' I liked that so I put it up.

"I'm absolutely interested in them. I'm looking at a number of SEC schools and two or three ACC schools. As far as the SEC goes, LSU would definitely be up near the top."

As a junior Drew recorded 72 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 28 quarterback pressures, seven sacks and three forced fumbles.

He means that we are in much better shape now that Kiff is gone. The kid is an ordained minister so I think it's safe to say he's looking for a coach that actually has some integrity and some morals.

ASSETS: Has good height, very long arms, tremendous growth potential and proved to be very strong.
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: Will need to add at least 20 pounds before stepping on a field as a defensive end. Also needs play with lower pad level at the point of attack.
WHAT WAS MOST IMPRESSIVE: Won the Strongest Man Competition at the event. During the final competition, he proved to be the tug-of-war king - showing tremendous effort and heart.
CONCLUSION: He is athletic enough to possibly become a defensive end/linebacker hybrid. Drew will physically remind fans of Florida State signee Christian Jones. He is definitely a top-five player in the state of Georgia and a national recruit.

I go to TCCHS with Ray, friend of mine. And sorry to tell you, Tennessee won't pick him up. He'll go to:UGA, Florida, or Alabama.

And he has 18 offers now. His last two were:Lsu, then USC.

Oh, and, FSU has no chance. He can't stand Jimbo. In the past month, he's brought these people to the school: UGA head coach Mark Richt, Clemson head coach Sweeney, Alabama head coach Nick Saban, Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson, Purdue defensive co-ordinator.

Chuck hasn't gotten ahold of him yet. If he does his homework, which he should, UT has a whole lot to offer.

He is FSU's to lose. Although with recruiting you just never know.

Bringing you the news, from an unbiased point of view.
