yeah but OP said a few 5*'s. I don't see why we would back off a guy that is super talented that we want. I thought Dooley was the type of coach to fix attitude issues?

In all seriousness, for this class(and maybe the next one) we needed players who weren't going to make asses of themselves and pull a Darren Myles or Nu'Keese and get kicked off the team. I think Dooley wants to get our team back to 85 scholarship players therefore doing everything he can to address all the depth issues we had last year. Once we get back to a stable number then I believe he will take a few chances on recruits. We needed guys that are going to be here all of 3-4 years, instead of freshman fools who could potentially get kicked out this coming fall.

Doesn't surprise me at all. If you watch CDD's NSD press conference, he clearly states his process and methodology in recruiting. He stresses his 5 player parameters, character, relationships, and so on. It was clear Bellamy had attitude problems. Didn't he walk out on an OV because another RB was there and felt that RB was getting more attention? I believe it was UF.

Down the road, I feel there is going to be a lot of unhappy people when CDD turns down 4 and 5 star kids in the future. They won't want to hear it was because we didn't want them. It will be easy to say the opposite.

Honestly, I think Dooley knows there are several ways/combinations of ways to get fired here:

1. Go 6-6 every year.

2. Go 8-4 every year while winning the Fulmer Cup.

It should be easy to know who these guys were/are. We can watch Bellamy, etc. and see how their lives go.

I strongly suggest everyone watch his NSD press conference. He also clarifies his stance on taking risks (regarding players). He sounded like a financial advisor with his analysis of risk versus reward with players. He doesn't want attrition down the road, especially now. He got a great class.

Come to think of it, "backing off" the fastest running back in the country is BS. I think I need to start an ongoing "Dooley BS Watch Thread." All a tap dance.

I would say attitude is 100 times easier to judge than talent or potential. I'm not a recruiter or coach but I feel like I can judge ppls attitudes pretty well and pretty quickly. I agree with the coaches If that's why they backed off of kids, we don't need crappy attitudes poisoning the team. Look at the bengals and cowboys. Both are probably in the top five in the NFL if u just look at talent alone yet can't even get to a .500 season. And volru u wouldn't agree with Dooley if he said the sky was blue.

It's a fine class, but let's face it, there aren't many (if any) top five players in their positions in it. (Couch and Moore are top ten overall JUCO players though.) Dooley simply hasn't gained the confidence of the blue chip prospects. They like him, but they don't commit. Dooley is trying too hard to put his spin on that. No BS. Results only please.
