'11 FL RB Marlin Lane

DD recently released Oku, hopefully that means he like where we're at with Lane.

You know it has to be good, because Dooley will only grant a release based on team needs, and numbers at the position. The writing is on the wall here.

but also i think dooley has the kid's best interests at heart and he knew this was the best thing for the kid. i think he wants to see a kid succeed somewhere else than fail at tennessee

He said releasing him was what "best for the team". That has to mean he is very confident with Lane or Buie

We can't afford a we could get someone, but who knows, maybe we will get 2 studs next year hogwash. We need major help THIS year in addition to Smith.

Best statement I have seen all day! We need to be bringing in major talent year in and year out. Period. We absolutely cannot afford to take recruiting years off. Look at Oku and Bryce Brown for instance. Both gone, both were supposed to be our "future". We NEED Marlin Lane and it is up to Derek Dooley and staff to make it happen.

A couple years off in recruiting landed us an 18-20 record over the past three years.

We need talent at every position NOW. If we want to compete for a BCS Bowl/National Championship in 2012/2013, this class has got to do work.

I agree completely. What other major program says, "Awe, we'll just get two stud players next year". Not many. Major programs, Esp. ones in the SEC, bring in top notch talent year in and year out. If the player cannot cut it, move aside, because the next great player is on his heals. That is how success is built over time. If I am not mistaking we are still waiting to sign that "stud" Tight End, and have been for the last 3 years or so now. That hasn't gone so well. The "wait until next year" attitude kills me.

A couple things could of happened here. Clemson is under a scholarship crunch, and they already have Bellamy and this probably locks him up. Lane also did not have a good Sr. year by any means. Also his recent arrest certainly could've been the last straw.

A little late to the party here this time.

Its been said that Clemson and Lane went their separate ways bc Clemson got tired of Lane looking at other schools and taking visits. Lane said Dabo told him it was fine before, but recently changed his stance, made an ultimatum, and they let him go because he wanted to make his visits.

Sounds like Dabo is an insecure man of little faith.
