Jeff Driskel, 6-3/225, Oviedo (Fla.) Hagerty

Ht:6'3"
Wt:225 lbs
40:4.52 secs
Bench Reps:13
Shuttle:4.65
Vertical:26 inches
GPA:3.7
Class:2011 (High School)

Jeff Driskell is a prototypical pocket passer, but it was more than the throws he made that persuaded us to award him with first team All-American status. He was able to run a hand-held 4.62-40, and a 4.38 shuttle on a slow surface. There is no question that he has the arm strength to make any throw, but he also possesses the athletic ability to buy more time in the pocket.

"I've spoken with the (Tennessee) coaches here in the last couple weeks. I've got them on the phone a couple of times, trying to get a feeling for them," Driskel said. "They've heard a lot of things about me; they said they're real excited about me."

"Just the history that Tennessee has. They have a great history of producing big-time players and big-time quarterbacks," Driskel said about what interests him in Tennessee. "I like the way the new coaches are handling everything, it's going in the right direction. The coaches seem to be very family oriented and I'm a big believer in that."

Per Rivals... He is going to either visit Knoxville in the Spring or camp here in June.

He doesn't have a Vol offer yet, but he does hold offers from Florida, Auburn, Clemson, LSU, Ole Miss, etc.

"Driskel is that big-bodied, pro-style quarterback who happens to be really athletic, too," Rivals.com recruiting analyst Barry Every said. "He has that combination of a strong arm and good mechanics."

Sounds like he is the pursuer, from that quote.

I like it, if CDD wants him.

Oviedo (Fla.) Hagerty quarterback Jeff Driskel told me today at the Elite 11 regional at the ESPN Wide World of Sports that Tennessee is the latest to offer him. Southern Cal is also talking to him but said Alabama has backed off recently. Florida, Clemson, Auburn and many others have also offered.

The biggest name coming into the day was Jeff Driskel (Oviedo, Fla./Hagerty), who showed why he has quickly emerged as one of the elite quarterback prospects in the 2011 class. The Under Armour All-American passes the eye-test with good size and the frame to add more good bulk in time. There are a lot of strengths to Driskel's game, but the thing that stood out the most was his consistency. From drill to drill he performed well, displaying the ability to follow direction, adapt and makes plays regardless of the task. He displayed his athleticism at a combine at the beginning of the year and continued to showcase his athletic skill here with good footwork. He moved his feet effortlessly and was able to keep his eyes downfield. He also did a good job of throwing on the run and knowing when to take something off the ball and throw with some touch. He has good arm strength and is able to make all the throws. Driskel, who sports offers from Florida, Auburn, LSU, and Tennessee, among others, looks the part of a pocket passer, but has the ability to create second chances and be a playmaker. Heading into Sunday's event Driskel's stock was pretty high and he did nothing to hurt that with his performance. In fact, he might have even raised it some more.

This is very noticeable from his film on rivals...he has a cannon but puts touch on a lot of his throws... #1 qb in '11 imo...

As much as I'd love this kid, I say we have about a 3% chance of pulling him in. I hope I'm wrong, but I honestly doubt it.

On the Barner boards they are claiming it is between them and UF for Driskell. I even saw where they are saying his parents were alum.

LSU is the latest school to extend a scholarship offer to the 6-foot-3 ½, 222-pound Driskel, who estimates receiving the Tigers' offer within the last two to three weeks.

"I certainly have an interest in LSU," Driskel said. "They're a great program and play in the best conference in America."

He visited Auburn recently and raved about it. He's athletic so it would be a good fit. Don't know about the legacy thing..

It sounds like UF has him #1 on their board. If so they will be hard to beat if he is interested in them. CUM does a good job of putting the full court press on a prospect.

BTW according to Auburn sites every player raves about them. Several players have already visited them this spring and their sites posts articles that the players named them leader or said that the Barn was the greatest place on earth. The next week other articles come out from nonrelated school sites that completely contradict everything the Barns sites reported. Also the Barn fans think they will win the SEC west this year and have a chance to play in the BCSNCG.
