Dual-threat quarterback

Ht:6'5"
Wt:225 lbs

Class:2011 (High School)

When it comes to athletic quarterbacks one of the top prospects will be Jacoby Brissett. Brissett, 6-5 and 225 pounds, is from West Palm Beach Dwyer High School in south Florida.

"The season is going good," Brissett said. "We are starting to really come around and getting better. We are 5-1 and play Okeechobee tomorrow night."
"I would day my strengths as a quarterback are seeing the field, I have a big arm, and deceptive speed.

"I need to work on my timing and accuracy. I need to work on getting the right reads. Fundamentals are big and I can always get better there."

"I have plenty of verbal offers but those three are all official written offers. Teams like Florida, Tennessee, Wisconsin, LSU, Miami, USF, and Ohio State are recruiting me hard but haven't offered yet.

"My first verbal offer was from Boston College. That was back in my 9th grade year and yes, I was a little surprised. They were also the first to offer in writing. I really like their offense and BC is a team I am definitely interested in."

Staff really likes him, thinks he is going to be very good both passing and running the ball. BC is actually in pretty good shape right now.

Brissett just picked up an LSU offer. Sounds like they want him pretty bad. They will have a battle to get him cuz he holds offers from Miami and FSU among others but it could help us out with Worley.

Dual Threat. Lets see, can u say Brent Schaffer. The only true D.Threat QB's I can remember being successfull at UT are C. Holloway and H. Shuler. Only if CDD's offense needs a D. Threat QB will we get one.

Dont say T. Robinson or T. Martin either. They were both Pro-Style QB's.

UT has a long History of Pro-Style QB's and I doubt it will change soon. That is just my opinion.

We have 3 Pro Styles QB's now and thats not counting Lamiason... and are strong on Worley and a few others for 2010....

This guy looks very good and has an impressive offer list. I think that we should offer he looks like he would rather throw than ran also I dont see what it could hurt if we did offer.

I was just saying that this guy might help push Worley to UT, but LSU fans think they are getting Marquise Williams or some Oliver guy at QB anyways so we should be find.

Look for Uf to make him, randall or Ely the second Qb in their class. After the camps this summer he'll move up on many teams board. Hearing FSU atp but its stiil early. Kid played WR's also so he'll get some offers as an ATH.

Tennessee has offered Brissett sometime in the past week or so.

He also holds offers from FSU, Miami, LSU, Notre Dame, UNC, Clemson, USCjr, BC, Minn, Illinois, Texas A&M, WVU, Wisconsin, etc.

Rivals- 4star, #5 Pro-Style QB, #230 Overall.
Scout- 3star, #14 Pro-Style QB
ESPN- 3star, #8 Pro-Style QB

and fwiw, I think we have a shot at him if he decides to play football which I think he will.

He is a fallback guy for everybody. He is behind Marshall for FSU, Bridgewater and Williams for LSU, and Bridgewater for Miami.

HialeahGator had some good things to say on here last week too:

Hearing some good thing for UT on the Jacoby Brissett front....loves UT basketball program maybe a two sports thing coming soon. Kid is a real sleeper, can QB/WR and the size is amazing 6-4 230.

Yeah they (FSU and LSU) like him but some around UF program has heard he's favoring UT....not sure if Pearl has made an Bball offer but many believe that's part of reason UF have offered Jerrard Randall as Qb/Ath.

I think Dooley should go after him hard for football and Pearl should go after him hard for basketball.

Since there are some rumors floating around about him, I figured I'd bump this thread.

Bump.

This young man has become my favorite QB recruit. I think CJC will work wonders with this kid. I hope the rumors are true about his committment to the Vols, soon.

This kid has a ton of potential. He's big, extremely strong arm, and moves very well. The more I watch of this kid the more I like him because I really think if he gets good coaching at the collegiate level he'll blow up. I think Chaney could really turn this kid into a monster. A lot of potential.
