11 FL OL Marcus Jackson (UT commit)

well he is open to visits..i have a feeling he sticks cuz his mom wants him close to home...and are cane fans (i dont think that matters)

he was open cuz somethings were going on at miami with randy but everything is clearing up now..

80 percent chance he sticks...how about that?

A game at Sun Life Stadium don't compare to Neyland. I think that was a major thing that awed him. He likes CHH and felt comfortable with the guys on the OL. Sounds pretty good to me.

wow...then he is all-vol :salute:

Sun life stadium isn't a great college venue....but its a nice stadium. I loved it when I went last year. Probably my favorite stadium...that jumbtron is unreal.

According to a GVX Article Crowder was in Jacksons ear all day Saturday about being a Vol.

thats a little bit of an exaggeration dont yea think? it said he talked to him about him coming there and jackson said he liked his trip. lets not get carried away, although i do think we have a good shot at switching him.

They were on the sidelines together before the game & sat in the recruiting section. By all day I meant during the game. Not literally all day.

FWIW miami guys says :he is just visiting...

yea idk about that

Miami...

A well connected FLA poster on VQ thinks we may have sealed the deal with Marcus this weekend, and he looks for him to announce pretty soon.

(sorry to bear the bad tidings -- but then again......)

I know you are talking to Miamicane, but I would take all of that bad news you can bring.

After taking another look at next year's OL depth chart, Jackson would be our most critical get at this point in terms of filling a need, IMO. (I'm assuming Antonio Richardson will not qualify, and I think he projects as a tackle anyway.)

LG
JerQuari Schofield (6-6, 331, SO)

Kyler Kerbyson (6-5, 290, FR)
Caleb Leonard (6-3, 265 SO) (walk-on)

C
James Stone (6-4, 295, SO)

Darin Gooch (6-3, 305, JR)
Mack Crowder (6-4, 275, FR)
? Cody Pope (6-6, 290, SR)

RG
Zach Fulton (6-5, 315, SO)

Carson Anderson (6-2, 280, JR)
Kevin Revis (6-2, 285, SO)
Travis James (6-3, 335, SO) (walk-on)

That may look OK on paper but of that bunch, only 4 or 5 are SEC-caliber linemen, IMO, with only 3 viable guards. And pretty much every year, you can count on one or two OL starters getting injured and missing some games. That's why I think it's very important that we add Jackson or another quality guard. While Posey could potentially slide inside, we don't exactly have a surplus of OTs, either.

I really hoped we'd add 5 solid OLmen to the roster next year, but that apparently won't be the case.

Richardson will qualify. I agree he projecs as a tackle, but the staff may look at him for several positions. I think there will be some movement on the OL next season, and I think Kerbyson could chip in next year, IMO.
