'11 FL DE Curt Maggitt - UT Signee

So is Maggitt going to be an OLB? B/c according to Hubbs the staff has talked to AJ Johnson about playing Sam or Will LB instead of MLB.

SLB: AJ Johnson, 6'3 230
MLB: John Propst, 6'0 225, Christian Harris 6'2 230
WLB: Curt Maggit, 6'3 230

That is a signficant upgrade in size at LB if that happens.

I know the coaches told AJ they could possibly see him at SLB but I find it hard to believe...I think he's perfect for MLB...

I could see this lineup in 2012:

SLB: King 6'2" 230 / Harris 6'2" 230
MLB: Johnson 6'3" 240 / Propst 6'0" 225
WLB: Maggitt 6'3" 230 / Lathers 6'1" 220

I can see someone in the 2012 class pushing Propst and Lathers in the mid to late portion of the 2012 season

He was 225 1 month ago. 230 isnt out of question by the time he gets on campus.

I thought when he signed he was around 200? Some even said 195. So he's put on 25-30 pounds in 2-3 months? No way.

I'm not for sure what he was on NSD, but Hubbs did confirm recently that Maggit is in the 220-225 range now.

Magitt is a guy I definitely see playing jack linebacker in an over scheme which is what I expect we will run. In that sense he will sometimes see time as a 4th DL with his hand in the dirt. He will see early playing time in that role methinks.

I think Curt will be a great player for UT before his time is over here. While I think he needs to add about 20-30lbs to be a DE...I think he could see some time as a LB in blitz packages. I also think he would do VERY well when it comes to covering quicker TE's on pass routes. Kid looks like a great athlete and we need to get him on the field.

I'm assuming you're talking about my post....if so, you're way off. Harris flourished at Mike as a senior because of his play and his ability to quarterback the defense. AJ was more of a read and react player in high school. Facts are facts and has nothing to do with skin color.
