Honestly, I do not see UT being a factor with any kids from CA for a long time. Dooley has made it pretty clear his focus is the South East. The days of running all over the country may be over.

Who needs CA when we can recruit the whole SE and TX and with Wilcox problably the MW states

I hope so. I think trips to California on a consistent basis are a waste of time. Make a phone call and if they want to visit then ok but to spend so much time trying to get a kid to move across the country is a tough sell. If they do commit you have to keep on them and hope they don't freak out 2 weeks before signing day and decide to stay closer to home. There is more than enough talent if we go no further west than Texas except for rare occasions. It will maximize the staffs time.

Definately sounds like Dooley is going to keep 95% of recruiting efforts in southeast. Especially Georgia and Alabama. I would say that he has a few connects in Texas and will pick a few from there as well.

I agree that unless the prospects show interest or the guy is a "must have" we will not be doing much recruiting on the west coast....look no further than Saban who stays mainly in SEC country to recruit his players

Didnt the boise state guy used to recruit American Samoa really hard? We should get to Samoa, they put out more NFL players per capital then anywhere else, it was on bryant gumballs NFL show,:rock::rock:

Holy hair!

As for the recruiting in Cali topic, I think it will always be beneficial to keep a few pipelines in Southern California.

Didn't we have an article a few months ago about Moala being interested in UT? Most likely the guy stays on the West coast but there is no harm in calling him and gaging interest.

Vei Moala is not Fili's brother at all they are related but dont know each other well. Vei plays at the same high school Donte Stallworth played at so they know about the Vols. With the kids in Samoa hey if the kids qualify and have family in the military in Kentucky or Tennessee they will commit as thats the only way to get off the island and is a ticket for them.

Long-time reader, first-time poster...Moala plays at Grant High which also produced RB Onterrio Smith as well as Stallworth. Quite a track record if you stop right there. The school also upset vaunted Long Beach Poly for the state title last season as well...tons of talent every year, but unfortunately lots of character question marks.

Vei seems all PAC-10 at this point, most likely Cal untill SC puts the press on. He has former teammates at both schools. He will be an absolute beast on the next level as long as he walks the straight n narrow...

Hey everyone yea I know Vei really well as my cousin Puka Lopa plays with him. Puka is also being recruited as a DE. Vei is ready to go as of now him and Puka have above 3.0 GPA's and are great kids. Vei is Undecided right now and is receiving interest from teams on the East Coast so you never know what could happen. Vei is a monster and was the California Junior Player of the year so he will be great at the next level.

dsamoan, be sure to show Vei our depth chart at DT!!! He has a great chance to see significant playing time here as a true freshman.

and also don't forget about how many stud DT's we've put in the NFL recently...John Henderson, Haynesworth, Aubrayo Franklin, and this year we're sending big Dan.

IF by some miracle we were able to land this kid, he would be the cornerstone of this recruiting class IMO. Filling our biggest need with a premier player.
