Rose has an offer from the Tide. One from Florida State came Wednesday, he said. Auburn could be getting close. So could Tennessee.

"I think they both are," he said. "That would be great. Hopefully, I'll get the news from Auburn this weekend."

As a junior, Rose racked up 48 tackles and five interceptions helping lead Leeds to an 11-2 record. He averaged 38.4 yards on kickoff returns and scored two touchdowns, and averaged 24.0 yards per punt return with two more scores.

Rose said he was recently clocked in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.91 seconds.

Although Auburn sits alone at the top of his list of favorites, he doesn't plan to make an early decision.

"Auburn is high on my list," he said. "I'm going to take my time, make sure I get to see all of the colleges before I make a final decision.

"But Auburn will most likely be my choice."

Although he considers himself open, he said Auburn is his leader right now. But, he went on to say there are still some places he has yet to visit including Tennessee and Georgia.

When it comes to the Vols, Rose said he doesn't know a whole lot about the program but is interested and plans to visit in late May.

"My coach said they've got a good program up there. He told me about the facilities, about the head coach and where he's been and what he's been through and how he kind of coaches things," Rose said. "He told me he runs things like an NFL style. I'm basically just going on what he says."

Rose says he’ll be visiting Georgia in May and Tennessee in June. He already visited Florida State for a scrimmage.

As for Tennessee, Rose says he’s a fan of Vols defensive back Eric Berry, who is in this year’s NFL Draft. “I kind of idolized him last year,” he said. “I loved watching him play.”

He is being recruited by Tennessee linebackers coach Lance Thompson. “I like coach Lance,” he said. “We got to talk about their defense a bit and he said they really like my height and how I can move.”

Rose says he plans to make a decision this summer. “I’ll probably do it towards the end of June after I get to visit Georgia and Tennessee,” he said.

“I haven’t had a chance to make it to the campus, but I’m anxious to get there and check it out,” he said. “I plan on visiting sometime in late June.”

Rose reports a 3.0 GPA, and says he is on track to qualify, but won’t be a midterm enrollee. He has a bench press of 235 and a 315 squat.

“Yeah, right now Tennessee is one of my top teams.”

Awesome to hear. I know he is a solid prospect but do yall consider him to be an elite DB this year in the national standings. Just curious.

He also said Auburn and Alabama are his top two, still with Auburn leading. If he was going to go anywhere but Auburn (long shot) UT would make more sense than Tuscaloosa. His dad and uncle played for Auburn.

Jonathan Rose (Leeds, Ala./Leeds) is one of the hottest defensive back prospects from the Southeast. The a four-star cornerback has narrowed things down to four schools. Still, the Auburn Tigers will prove tough to beat.

"My father (Charles Rose) went [to Auburn] and played safety so you could say that Tiger blood is in my blood," Rose said. "I like everything about them and grew up around Auburn football. There's just something about them. I also like the staff, especially coach [Gene] Chizik. I like what they did last season. I feel comfortable with them too.

"As much as I like Auburn I also like Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee.

"Coach [Nick] Saban put his plan in and won a national championship. They are an established program again.

"I have always had love for Georgia and Tennessee. They are two programs that are building with new staffs as well. They are bringing in something new to their teams."

The 6-1, 180-pounder will take an unofficial visit to Tennessee on Monday and also try to visit Auburn and Alabama once again before practice starts next month.

"I am trying to get to a decision soon," said Rose.

everyone is a barn lock.

I think this guy is an Auburn lock... Chris Jones who was also considered to be an Auburn lock is no longer considering them. Not totally sure why but Auburn is probably going to get the 2 best DB's from Alabama Rose and Florence
