Leach wad my choice in 08 . not a horrible coach. He's just plum crazy but definitely will make watching Tennessee beyond entertaining

And this guy has axe to grind with TX Tech. He wants to give them the middle finger more than he wants a pay raise.

Not sure how his taking this job will be giving TX Tech the finger. He no longer coaches there.

He will be a 9-3 coach here at best. His high-flying offense will get crushed by big defenses (bama, UGA, UF) and will probably just beat up on the usuals. I don’t think he would be great, but at this point we would lucky just because he isn’t Schiano.
His offense is the type of offense that Saban complains about, and has lost to (A&M, Oklahoma, Clemson, Ole Miss). He is going to get good QB play here, and he's going to get better athletes than he ever could at Texas Tech or Washington State

After seeing that throttling by Petersen and UW (ouch!),
neither was I, but give him and SEC defense and let's see what he can do.

meh. he doesn't care about defense. which is fine. honestly, i'm not worried about it.

the last thing on my mind right now is the on field stuff.

i don't think it matters at this point who we bring in, we're going to suck again for a while.

i'd imagine Leach, and his offense, wouldn't be boring though.

i won't be mad or anything about a leach hire. heck the only two hires they've tried to make that would have made me mad, was shciano and doeren.

what i'm still miffed about is that haslam and currie never contacted les miles or tee martin.

i think not contacting tee is going to come back and bite us one day, unless we have an AD at some future date that's not hamstrung by jimmy's influence, and can go make amends and eventually hire him. and i'd suspect, we'll probably be down this road again in 4 or 5 years, no matter what.

we'll see if Tee is "good enough" for us by then......

Could give two sh!ts if we hire Gruden. I’m complaining about who is doing the hiring. If you were a fan of UT you’d see this problem is deeper than just a football coach.

Sorry, we ain't getting Kiffin either (hopefully anyhow).

If Currie makes this hire happen he should be given credit for it just as he has had to hear the *****ing about the Schiano debacle.

I guess some folks just need to be pis..d off about something all the time. The hiring of Leach should it happen would be cause for celebration and a cold ass Vol Navy parade. Not a bunch of butthurt internet posters whining because they didn't get the coach they demanded.

Nope. Look at the "Air Raid" taken to its logical extreme: Oklahoma (piloted by Lincoln Riley a former Leach assistant and Tech coach). With great athletes and a great QB (though almost no one recruited him) they became the best offense even after losing 2 NFL starting RBs and the Biletnikoff award winner, and when they played that might "big" defense last year (Auburn). Well, they hung 35 points and then took their foot off the gas. They also played tOSU this year (one of the best statistical D) and hung 31 even with multiple turnovers. Then they dropped 38 in a half on the #8 scoring defense (TCU). Can't win a game if you score 0 points.

Washington State might be the least or next to least talented team in the Pac12. He coaches teams up big time. What is vital is to get someone on staff who can recruit. Also, I'm not that familiar with his DC, but obviously a good one would really pay dividends.
