Outback bowl in Tampa would be a great way to end the year. It's a good environment and I think it could be close to sold out, which gives everyone a sense that the game really does matter.

I'd probably be happier if it were the Belk Bowl since it is only a 20 minute trip, but deep down I hope we draw an 8-4 James Franklin led Penn State in either the Outback or Taxslayer Bowl.

I hate Penn State and Franklin. Double bonus after we rip that crap team to shreds.

Come to Florida my Orange friends!

Yes, we would color Florida BIG ORANGE!

It's about 90 minutes from my house to the Ray Jay, Raymond James Stadium where the Outback Bowl is played. We were there when we beat Wisky and lost to JoePa. I'd love to beat the Badgers again or some other Big 10 team.
:good!:

We are obviously lower in the pecking order for bowls presently. Right now I would assume we are Belk, Liberty, or Tax Slayer Bowl bound.

While that's kind of a bummer, it only helps our chances at becoming 9-4 and ranked at seasons end. It's unlikely we play anyone in those bowl games that are a real threat to us.

Tennessee travels well.

This. If UT wins out the excitement in the fan base will be high and they will take into consideration that there will be lots and lots of orange wearing folks spending their dollars. Also, if UT wins out they are #2 SEC east which may help a bit. UT could be a team that gets bumped up to a better bowl based on fan support.

And if Iowa goes 12-0 regular season and loses to OSU in Big 10 championship game look for them to fall far in the bowl bidding war.

I would prefer the Outback or Gator ---Michigan St- Penn St - Iowa ( I cant see Iowa going to the Rose Bowl if they get hammered in the B10 title game)

Based on the idea that we finish the regular season at 8 - 4, we will be a very popular choice in Tampa. I am sure they paid attention to what we did last year in Jacksonville, both performance and fan following.

But, it is all going to depend on who goes to the playoff and who is chosen to go to the New Year's Six. I figure whoever wins the Bama - LSU game ends up in the playoffs. The loser and Florida will end up in the New Years 6. I would then expect Ole Miss to head to the Citrus Bowl and Tennessee to the Outback. What would be interesting is what would happen if Ole Miss collapses over the final month of the season. With Arkansas, LSU and Miss. State left, they have no gimme's left. If they lose the final 3 and end up 7 - 5, could we vault past them to the Citrus?

After the four losses this season VN be like- we will be lucky to make a bowl. This team sucks. Butch sucks. We will only win 6-7 games tops. The future looks dim. Belk bowl sucks, dont want it. The teams we may play are boring and bowl games dont matter. These are the comments made by the VN experts.

Some of you are just beyond hilarious. Whatever bowl game we get to, we should be happy and proud. With all of the adversity Tennessee has went through and the gut wrenching losses, a bowl game and win will be greatly appreciated. I dont care who we play. For years us fans have wished about returning to bowl games. Now that we have, some of you are complaining about the opponent. I guess some cannot see the forrest because of the trees.

Sometimes VN really makes me SMH and laugh at the same time. Some of the comments in this thread constitutes one of those times.

So to me it looks like they have FU beating Ole Miss in the SECCG. That means Bama beats LSU? ANd they have Arky ranked 9th? Talk about confused.

I'm so excited for the Bama-LSU game this year.

First time in a while the refs/SEC won't have any incentive to blatantly call the game in Bama's favor. To do so would be a conflict of interest since LSU currently has a better shot at the playoffs.

McMurphy: Music City Bowl Tennessee vs Indiana
Schlabach seems to have left Tennessee out

College football bowl projections after Week 9

If it's vs Indiana I will stay home. No thanks, not spending $500 between travel, hotels, tickets, etc to see a toilet Big 10 team get destroyed by UT.

Last year was LSU vs ND. I went and it was great. I doubt the Music City Bowl people will allow Indiana to be even discussed.

They will vs TCU and Baylor

My sides are hurting from laughing so hard. TCU is still a threat, sure but Baylor? Down to FR QB and they have taken some hits on their starting rotation. What makes you think that OU is going to lose? Okie State gives us more cause for concern than the Horned Frogs and Bears. Given the progress (at least to fans of OU that actually follow) the O has made and with new faces on the D side that are making plays, I'd take a rematch with the Vols any day. Even with our shortcomings this year, we have made strides. You still have Butch and Debord.

A Michigan State match up would be nice, I don't think Tennessee has ever played the Spartans.
