Just some "what if" not predicting anything, but Georgia loses SECCG and and has one loss,and Alabama ,Auburn or an Ole Miss wins the conference. You think we still get in with the loss to Georgia?

It is within team 119's capability to beat everyone on the schedule this season. Bama's lost some talent and they have questions at QB. They're beatable. I'll go on and say I don't think we will... but that doesn't mean it can't happen.

My question is: can this team win those toss up games that were lost last year?

Ideally, I say we go 10-2 and play either Bama/Auburn in Atlanta this season.

Realistically - 8-4 or maybe 9-3 depending on injuries.

I seriously can't bring myself to say that I think we're gonna lose to Oklahoma, Georgia, or Florida this season, though...

So I think when people mention that we are not there yet (depth) it is underrated and sometimes just not even thought about by fans. If our O Line has drastically improved, and IF we have absolutely zero injuries within our two deep, I think we are talented/strong/motivated enough to make it to the playoffs. But, that doesn't happen in SEC football. There will be injuries to guys in the trenches and to our top athletes. It is a long hard season and things happen. The teams that make it to the playoffs are the ones that don't lose much ground when those things do occur. Ohio State, everyone said they won as a young team...look at how they started! They lost 2 QB's that could easily be in the top 3 in the SEC and then brought in a 3rd guy that...guess what...would still be in the top 3 in the SEC. Those teams can take the injuries and apply the next man up without losing too much talent. If all of our starters and 2nd string are healthy, we can hang with anyone. But I don't think this is our year. I'm hoping for 10-2 but will not be upset with Butch one bit over an 8-4 season.

Oklahoma is the most balanced team we will play. I think they are our second best opponent and i still think we take them.

Baylor, Oregon, Ohio State are about the only teams I see as being able to dominate a us. And none of them are on our schedule.

People keep discounting that Saban is one of the 5 best coaches in college football and Smart is one of the 5 best D coordinators too. Saban's first year had some bad losses, but they never lost by more than 7 points. Butch owns the worst point differential loss in UT history.

You left out the probability of beating the one team that
Is more talented. fitty percent!

IF WE BEAT FLORIDA.... WE WIN THE EAST. Period.

I have no idea why folks are acting like this is impossible. We are already pre-season favorites in 11 of our 12 games according to ESPN's Football Power Index. Now a bunch of those are basically 50-50 tossups but we are still favored cause they're at home. I don't think its beyond this team's capability to go 11-1. It would require us to get a few breaks going our way. But its definitely possible.

Just remember. Alabama was a year early when they won the national title in Saban's third season in 2009. Ohio State was a year early when they won the national title in Meyer's third season in 2014. Although 2016 does seem to be the logical year when we should be ready to challenge for a national title, don't be surprised if it happens a year early. Usually greatness isn't predicted. It just comes up on you. I think we'll find ourselves pleasantly surprised by how great this team is this year.

These threads are where the jokes about "Volsheimer's Disease" come from. Have a great end to the season (in this case the great ending is all of one game) and forget about everything else that occurred.

Tennessee had a spectacular bowl game. Tennessee has recruited well.

However, there are a lot of superlatives being thrown around about a lot of players who haven't done jack against an opponent with a pulse.
