100% Homerun Hire

I’m not unhappy with the hire. Not ecstatic either. But I wonder what the deciding factor was when we got to the coordinator level. I mean Pruitt and Tee had similarities in resume. I know Pruitt got a ring every time Saban won a NC, but so did every other assistant. Just wonder why Fulmer didn’t pick a successful guy with deep TN ties instead of one born and bred in Alabama. Was it the defensive experience? Not bashing Pruitt , just wondering.

Who he has worked for is what got him hired. And he has worked for them a good amount of time. The fact Saban would keep him on staff that long is a good sign. He isn’t a public speaker though. But that’s not really a requirement

I got all the public speaking I needed from butch. I enjoyed the short, straight shooting answers from Pruitt rather than the butchisms we’ve had for years. This guy will come to the podium and tell us we sucked and why we sucked when needed. We won’t hear any more life champion crap.

Come on man. Pruitt’s resume is light years ahead of tees. If Tee wouldn’t have went to UT not 1 person would have brought his name up on here.

People who didn't like the hire DEFINITELY need to listen to that press conference. Whether he succeeds or fails... he's the anti-Jones.

I think that is what’s got people on here raving about him more than anything else, that and his southern accent.

And I actually don’t mean this as Butch-bashing but overall, Pruitt comes across like he totally grew up in football, whereas Butch comes across like he read a lot of books about it.

Kiffin had an underwhelming presser. Seemed nervous. Dooley had a good one, guess i was fooled, but dooley was smart a lawyer and a decent public speaker.

I never liked Butch's he never seemed genuine to me.

This one was pretty amazing he definitely won me over seems genuine and completely owned the room.

I went backed and watched videos from the introductory pressers for Kiffin, Dooley, and Butch. Kiffin was nervous but I was excited because of the staff he was assembling and his pedigree. Dooley was a polished speaker that made me hope that he would be successful. Butch was all coach speak and seemed a he would be a big disciplinarian because he carries himself like he had just retired from the military. Pruitt is just a country boy that loves football. He seems intense and honest which is what Tennessee needs, not just used car salesman, the son of a legend, or a guy promising to make Tennessee the USC of the east coast. By far, Pruitt won the 1st press conference of the last 4 coaches.

Dooley sounded good at his press conference. Donnie Tyndell did a great job at his. Win football games. Don't care about anything else. If he's got us in the CFB playoff race in 3-4 years, all will be fine and everyone will be on board. If we're going 6-6 again, we're going to see him and Fulmer both on the ropes.

He's on the clock. Get to work.

Freaking this. Everyone can bask in the honeymoon glow but will everyone still be this excited when he goes 5-7 next year.

Dang watched the presser, I got 4 yrs eligibility left I’m ready lol. I think Pruitt will get UT back to where we were and that is the top. Any news on an OC?

Let's all just pray Saban doesn't turn it in next year. I got a feeling UT isn't his dream job. But, loved what he had to say, love the assumed coaching staff. Let's move forward and see what he can do. I'm loving the fact we got a coach that speaks like a coach again. No more BS, no more we're young and need another 6 years.

Let's pump the brakes a bit. As I always am when a new hire is made.....I'm guardedly optimistic. I'm hopeful, but understandably a tad gun shy. Personally, I'm taking a wait and see approach. Winning the press conference is great, but I'm more inclined to form an opinion based on what I see on Saturdays. If we see that big, tough, aggressive, nasty team and no one wants to play us, I'll be sold.

Coach Pruitt has me ready for the season to start right now!!!! Gonna be a total change of atmosphere in that locker room and on the field. Just what our team has needed for a while now. Excitement is back!!! Man of integrity who is going to work his butt off for our University and our team. Hope our guys are listening right now because he is ready to go. Lets get this!!!!

Young and full of fire. I hope he is here for a long, long time because that would mean he is both successful and devoted to this university (doesn't jump ship).

Looks like Winners of life! And football games too! He is bringing such a staff. Coaches he is signing have tremendous clout with players. Not only a top notch recruiting group. But guys who really know how to coach them up. Godbless Coach Pruitt and his staff. Go Vols!!!!
