100% Defensive win

Or we don’t give up 80 yard td runs, 60 yard passes, 4th down conversions, and leave guys wide open all game. If we don’t hurt the starting qb and gimp up the backup it could’ve been a different outcome. A win is nice but everyone should be concerned and realize there’s a lot to work on. We looked bad and should feel lucky that we won.
Or we could feel good that we won without playing our A game. They don’t take pictures. It’s a W or an L. I’ll take the W and move on to next week. Personally I think it’s progress when we beat a top 20 team (and a top 10 defense) at their house and we didn’t play particularly well. That would not have happened 5 years ago.

After watching the game I think any rational person feels lucky that Tennessee won and has concerns going forward. I guess my expectations are a bit higher.

The 80 run wasn’t aggressive D. The 60 yard pass wasn’t aggressive D. The 4th down conversions/td wasn’t aggressive D. The inability to cover a slant for decades isn’t an aggressive D.
16 qb hur, 9 tfl, 4 sacks. At one point Pitt was 3 for 8 on third down. Backed up with a short feild multiple times they held for a fg attempt. You’re just trolling. There was a heck of a lot more good plays than bad on D. You named three. I named over 30.

Very true. One "bad" play that will be all over ESPN will highlight Flowers and his...uh...tackle attempt. The embarrassment factor is rather high on that one.

I don’t know what Alvin Kamara was doing wearing #2 for Pitt today but I didn’t appreciate him running all over us.

Lol. Dudes were uncovered multiple times. Multiple 4th down conversions. I’m glad we were finally able to finish off a team with a gimpy, less than average, backup qb.

Yeah, I can’t believe they didn’t have a healthy qb on the whole team and had to start injured ones, oh wait a minute that continuous pounding by the pass rush took em out.

He got blasted multiple times with dudes standing all alone for sure.

We played Pitt's game and somehow won. Ugly game and they made it that way on purpose. People have film on Tennessee now and better personal can slow this offense. Pitt's defense is pretty good.. We sorely need a power back though..
Not much of a run game do we have except HH as it stands.

Hoss, there are a lot of improvements to be made on D, but if you can’t see they won this game you’re just looking for something to criticize. If the offense/special teams hadn’t sucked so bad and kept putting them in bad positions they would have looked even better. Not SEC good yet, but they won this game.

Or your glass is half empty. Good teams get some luck every now and then. Just ask Bama today.

No doubt about BAMA getting lucky.....or even the 98 Vols!

Like others have said, in the past 10-15 years we haven't been on the winning side of many close games against ranked opponents. I'll take it! GO VOLS!

You’re a riot🤣 I guess they showed up with crippled quarterbacks and had the genius game plan to settle for feild goal attempts on multiple trips to the red zone. Special teams and O hung the D out multiple times and they came thru more than not.

Some people are just miserable people. They spend their whole life looking for the negative & focusing on that, & that only. They absolutely refuse to acknowledge anything good or positive. There are several of these “fans” on this site

I’m not as enthused as many of you guys are. I’m happy with the win, but the D wasn’t all that impressive to me. Sure… they beat the living hell out of their QBs, but look at the stats below compared to the WVU game where Slovis played the whole game.
