spurrier did say before he went to SC that the only other place he really wanted to coach at other than FL was TN. he's not really happy at SC and i think he'd leave in a heartbeat to come to TN

Don't want this to sound wrong like I have a major influence, but I have been a doner to the athletic schol fund for 20 years. I can assure you myself and others will continue to support UT athletics but Mike Hamilton will know how we feel about the state of football. I can guarantee this will not be a good week for him.

Steve spurrier would trip over himself to coach here.Sc is still not going to be anywhere near the top of the sec east.Florida is there and i believe they maybe there to stay.Although we make anyone look like worldbeaters anymore.Spurrier is a better coach, always has been a better coach and a definite upgrade from what we have. But its a pipe dream unforunately.

Gruden blows

Agreed, he seems to be only a marginal NFL coach, he won his Super Bowl with Dungy's team. And I have no idea what kind of recruiter he would be, seems way too risky. I'm liking Schiano more and more, if he can convince kids to come play for him in Piscataway, NJ, he can convince them to come play in Knoxville.

I still think there's hope for change, like I said in another thread earlier, Mike Hamilton wasn't happy with what Buzz Peterson was doing with the basketball program, even though he wasn't doing that bad given our basketball history here, and he made a change to improve the program. I don't see how he can stand by the decision to show Buzz the door and continue to support Fulmer as he reigns over our slide into mediocrity.

Spurrier, if he came (and I still don't think he would), would only be a band-aid for this. He's getting older.

Also, I think the only thing left in his life that he'd love to do would be to turn down a UT offer.

Don't y'all think the ole ball coach is a little too old to be rebuilding the Vols?

We don't need to tell Mike Hamilton what needs to be done. If we do, we have the wrong AD. I am a Volunteer fan and have tried to not make any statements negative towards our football program. However, after today's games I feel moved to take a stand. Our team was not competitive and embarassed the great tradition of the University of Tennessee. There has to be a responsible party for that poor display of football execution and I believe it lays at the feet of the coaching staff. The SEC has ratcheted up the level of coaching expertise and I feel our great university isn't taking the steps to keep up with said competitiveness.. Therefore I'm calling for Mike Hamilton to seriously consider the worthiness of our head football coach in todays arena and make a change for the advancement of the name of Tennessee football.

very well said man.....something has to be DONE NOW!!!! this is pathetic......if not then get rid of hamilton as well and move in someone that knows wTF is going on

I realllllllly wish hamilton would take a stand, because we are going to have another losing season this year without a doubt. I don't think hamilton will do anything though, although i can hope, but if he does who will want to come to our program (realistically)
Well its a pretty sweet job. rabid fan base, 100,000 seat stadium, great tradition, Job security and did i mention 100,000 seat stadium. Who would NOT want to come to UT?

Newbie here, just wanted to add my 2 cents
Greg Sciano isn't coming...speculation he'll be Joe Pa's replacement
Rich Rodriguez isn't coming...he's a WV alumnus and is happy there...do you think someone could have lured Fulmer away from TN?
Spurrier's not coming....have you seen all the great golf courses in SC and he'd actually have to work hard in recruiting, something he really hates..At Florida, it was easy, geography, weather, number of recruits. Also, seems to me that there would be some objection to this from some on the Board
Gruden seems to have the same problem as Phil, resting on laurels of the past
Some I think might work and realistic:
Bill Cowher now lives in Raleigh where he and wife are NC St alumni and has many good friends, likes the sleepy city in the rolling hills...sound familiar? Knoxville isn't far from Raleigh
Gary Patterson at TCU and Mike Leach at Texas Tech are both innovative, eager, offensive minded, and respected in Texas...imagine the recruiting possibilities in Texas
LSU coordinators Jimbo Fisher and Bo Pelini both will be D1 coaches somewhere soon
Rodney Garner at Georgia is asst head coach/def coord. and he'll make the move up soon too...used to be our recruiting coordinator
Mike Petersen Boise St, a little green but he's gonna be a star somewhere
Paul Johnson of Navy, he knows how to win
and lastly since Watson Brown became homesick, wonder how Mack's feeling?

Call the money....call the sponsors. The only way to make a change is hurt the paycheck and the wallet.

Mack Brown is a Fulmer clone and would be a waste of time.
