I wasn't going to name names, but football4life gave it away.
As far as Garrett's game goes, when we game plan for his team, it's really to contain him. We knew they ran the zone read, so we made sure to spy at both the LB and DB level. We hardly blitzed because we knew what he could do with his legs. We basically tried to keep the ball away from their offense. In the process, however, our offense was unable to get it done and put points in the endzone.
He was composed and patient at all times. I hate to toot my own horn, but I thought we had the perfect game plan to stop them, and we were close. He made some big plays with his arm and legs to keep drive going. As a coach, you're pissed that you were so close, but at the same time, you just have to tip your hat to your opponent.
Someone mentioned in an earlier thread that he looked lazy at times. Uh, no. That's called stoicism. The kid looks like he's barely breathing back there, then he's got you. People used to say that about Drew Brees, too.
I'm trying to convert the film we received from someone who went to the same camp Heritage went to. I watched it earlier today and the kid is throwing darts. One thing that impressed me was his ability to manipulate defenders with his eyes and body lean, then put the ball in spots where only his receiver could get it...away from the defender. There were passes he threw that made me laugh because they were down right ridiculous. Okay...enough teasing. I'll convert the video ASAP.
