'10 WA QB Garrett Grayson

Garrett doesn't seem to be holding it against us.

When can we visit with him?

There will be scouts at his games. He is on the spotlight now. Kiffin will send someone he trust to one of his games I guess. I don't expect an offer before season but would be pleasantly surprised if we did.

“I would die if I got an offer from them,” Grayson laughed. “It would be an incredible honor to play football for the same university that Peyton Manning did:yess:

That is the way I want to hear our QB talk!

Is it possible that this is one of the guys our staff has thought might have a breakout senior season and move to the top the QB's in the class?

Well, guess what? He's having a breakout summer.

man u really need to chill out...Its JULY bro. Get off our coaches ass please its disturbing
Look...Bro...QB recruitment is a different animal than recruitment for other positions, if you haven't noticed. They are generally on a different timeline/schedule than other players at other positions.

The evidence of that is their own words...all the top prospects are generally off the board by the time fall camp begins. This is, and has been for a few years now, a critical need of ours, and we haven't answered the bell yet.

Sounds pretty raw to snub a prospect you may very well realize later that you really want. If CLK didn't want to meet the kid, then they shouldn't have asked him to come visit. Pretty simple concept, no?
That may be how they do it at USC, but I for one, don't want Tennessee's name run through the mud for this kind of treatment. You don't think other recruits wouldn't catch wind of this, and decide against taking a visit. Word spreads fast in this internet age.

I'm not the only one here who thinks they are (in some ways) botching the QB situation, so, why don't you chill on trying to tell me what to think.

If they did something wrong, it sounds like we got a mulligan. Garrett sounds cool with this.

This staff will bust their tail to get him if he's their guy. You know that's true, right?

Guys it is pretty obvious what happened. A coach called looking for Grayson. He was in Louisville. Since they could not reach him they said he should stop by. Kiffin was already on vacation. It is just bad circumstance. Sorry for the rant watchers by one of are more passionate members.
I hope that's what it was...that's why I said I wish Hubbs, Basillo or someone asks about the situation without mentioning names (don't want any secondary violations). But currently the evidence seems to lean toward a snub or general cock-up by CLK. He was on the radio with Tony Basillo today...and Tony asked him if he was on vacation and CLK said "No...that he was in the office writing up some plays for this season." Boom...Roasted. :blush2:

CLK has snubbed others, and he had an outgoing former staff member do his dirty work of telling Bryce Petty "No Thanks." So, I'm just hoping the practice stops.

I sure hope so.

Reaves is basically assit recruiting coordinator. He is QB coach. I think this is who it was but not something worth debating.

He is the guy from central Florida a really good hire recommended by Gran. The coaches are all out of town. We wanted him to see the place and being from Washington you cannot say come back next week when he is in the neighborhood. Now that he has seen the place, future conversations have a little more meaning.

The dude from St Thomas Aquinas?

If this guy ends up being our QB, Hamilton should have shown him around. j/k... a little

This is the guy he's talking about. Rubio hired as recruiting intern GoVolsXtra

Still... we don't know much about him, yet. Gran, the guy who recommended him is one of the best and finest coaches in the business. So, I'm sure Rubio is solid. It seems obvious that he did a great job with Garrett.

Rubio, a native of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., spent a year as a volunteer assistant coach at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, where he played football, before attending UCF.

He had something to do with STA. Close enough :)

Yeh... I need to put the beer down. :lolabove:

I got that edit in before getting quotting tho. Thought I should man up, so your post made sense.

Thanks for straightening me out.

Sorry if I came across harsh, but honestly...I want to give CLK credit and maintain an optimistic view, but the Boyd episode put a bitter taste in my mouth with the way he's handled the whole situation up to this point.

His interview today just solidified the fact they THEY SCREW UP regularly in their evaluations. Leinart would've never seen the field under Fulmer...and he'd be playing for Carson Newman or UT Chattanoog'ie rather than being a 1st rd draft pick.

Rubio replaced the guy from Carolina that was hired and left, Gonella. He was brought in to handle the high school relations job that Van Derzee had last year and that Gerald Harrison had before going with Cut to Duke.

the job helps coordinate recruiting. Takes the videos in from recruits, helps arrange visits, coordiantes activities on the visit (getting recruits where they need to be at certain time), etc. etc.

To answer peoples question about his arm over 20 yards. It's great! I know his video show him putting a lot of air under the ball on deep passes, however that is what he had to work with. Over and Over again when he tried to throw a deep ball with more zip his players would drop it. To tell you the truth with the line and WR's he had to support him, I can't believe he threw for so many yards. He makes a whole lot of nothing into something and friends, that translates into the next level. Might be his arm or his legs but, man does he have game.
