'10 WA QB Garrett Grayson

I still would like to see Scroggins come here, but if he doesn't all is not lost. If we could get Grayson, Lamaison, and Newton it wouldn't be shabby. Add in a top notch guy for '11 and we are not in that bad a shape. I think this Grayson kid has a ton of potential, and getting an athlete of his caliber can't be a bad thing. Personally, I wouldn't be too upset about losing Scroggins if we get this kid.

...From what one of my players said, Garrett's trip was (I'll say it again) less than stellar. He loved Knoxville, loved the school, loved the people, LOVED the stadium, but...Coach Kiffin did not meet him. No offensive coach did. The OC was in a meeting. From what I was told, Garrett loved the place, but felt snubbed by the staff. The coaches from Louisville were up front with him and told him that they offered two other QBs and had to wait before pursuing Garrett.

Garrett willed his team to the playoffs last season. He is the real deal.
I think one reason he hasn't gotten a lot of attention from this staff is that it often times comes down to connections. Kiffin has a LOT of connections in SoCal, plus the sheer numbers of players/population in the state make it a very fertile place to shop for groceries, so to speak.
He probably hasn't had a great deal of time evaluating Grayson, and if his visit wasn't set up in advance like the others, I'd say THAT has more to do with it than anything. Nobody works harder than this staff, and that means being pulled in a bunch of different directions.
There is a recruiting service that prepares film and dissections of players for the staff, and it's possible that they haven't yet gotten around to Grayson.

I'm going to hold off judgment until more facts appear.

Jewbaccah...you're right, Louisville did. BUT at least the coaching staff at Louisville met with Grayson first and told him what the situation was. I'm glad that people are on here talking about him because maybe someone will get through to somebody at UT! And I can't wait for Garrett to graduate because I hate game planning to "stop" him. Then again, Heritage has a sophomore stud right behind him. They're going to be loaded for a looooong time.

It was a Louisville camp duh the coaches were there. The timing was bad man. They were on vacation. Our camps are over. In two weeks they are on all the time until February. 7 days a week. Why did he not make our camp?

If he made our camp, his chances of getting their attention are as good as it gets...and he gets a chance to see what practice is like for a player here.

Wish he would've come. That's pretty much what got Rettig started. Barely heard of him til our camp...

Scroggins is clearly causing a bottleneck in the whole process here (with such a lengthy wait time). I'm not happy about that, but who knows what's transpiring behind the scenes?

TENNaciousUTfan...loved that screen name. I think/hope you're right.
Thanks. I really hope he wasn't snubbed. CLK did that to 2 QB's that had committed under the previous regime...but I strongly suspect that was more to do with Kiffin wanting to pick his own field general and not have to be stuck with guys the other staff brought in.
He got burned with that kind of situation with the Raiders and it put a very bitter taste in his mouth.

Having said that...I'm liking the fact that this is a VERY smart young man. I think that is one of the key components he's looking for in a prospect. Accuracy is another major plus.

They drug tested all the students at ND. And ooltwah they like bring the dogs in once a month

They drug test the kids that they know don't do it. The only time they test a "suspected" kid is if a parent or somebody else asks them to.

His name is Westcoast FB he came on here talking up a storm then said Grayson hated his trip. Yet Grayson is quoted saying he loved the trip. Said that he heard that on the radio in WA. Cuz you know that is the stuff that makes radio that quickly.

Man, you step away for a fw minutes and your words get completly twisted. His qoute was on a blog, not the radio!! Does anyone read any more????

I stated that he didn't meet with Kiffin on his trip, never said he was pissed or that he didn't enjoy the visit!

I (and you) and imagine that he was a bit disappointed after he was asked to make an unofficial visit after he competed in the Louisville Camp!!

Thanks....I'll just be glad for this to be over. So we can move on with or without him. From the moment he said he was going to push his decision all the way to July 25th...I knew we'd have trouble with the other guys on the board, trying to keep them in a holding pattern for 6 weeks at a point when most elite QB's are either committed or are about to, is a recipe for trouble.

Looking like it's going to be a shut out on the top QB's that Kiffin assumed he was going to get...the ones who were supposed to beat out Tajh Boyd. He bet the farm on Jesse, and now Scroggins is going to show him just how foolish it was to do so.
This QB crap is starting to get old. It's like a damn fairy tale gone bad. You know the story where the guy basically shows just enough interest in the less than beautiful step-sisters to keep them interested, while pursuing the princess, only to have her choose another suitor in the end. Then the guy turns all his attention to the step-sisters in order to salvage face only to be told to F___K OFF ! Anyone else see the irony here ?

I hate to see the word "troll" come up on message boards...I'm just giving you the info that I hear. There was nothing "published" about Garrett not liking his trip to Tennessee. Like I said, he's the type of kid that wants nothing but to play in the toughest conference, the loudest stadiums, and in front of 109,000 of you crazy Southerners.

Clark County (where Heritage is) has about half a million people in it. Our kids battle on the football field, but are actually pretty close off of it. Compared to the rest of the state, we are pretty remote, so when a team from our area competes in the state playoffs (regardless of rivalry), we are there to support them. When a player from our area gets selected to all-state teams/games/etc, we are there to support them. Coaches get along well, too. It's that closeness that makes us so competitive against each other. We'll do whatever it takes to beat the piss out of each other, but we'll shake hands and possibly have a brew after. PS- "ya'll" can't handle NW beer.

That's what happens when grown adults court 17yr olds...the more they are wanted, the more of a game it becomes. "Let's see how long we can Pimp tha' coaches." :cool2:

No kiddin, right? :) I remember one time when I was in the Army, my roommate handed me a jar of shine...just one whiff nearly knocked me out. You could drive your car on that stuff, and it would like it!
