'10 WA QB Garrett Grayson

I am biased of course, but I am a California transplant and I can tell you that the football is good here and getting better.
No problem. It has been a few years back. We have moved alot for work but aren't military.

But the subject is Garrett, and he is the real deal. If you can't heed my advice or eyes for that matter, just read the recent articles written about him against the best competition.

All I've had to go off of is his own highlight reel. It isn't very impressive. That doesn't mean he can't play... but then again, it is really the only "tackle football" evidence we have at this point.

seems like the timing would be right.

how strong is graysons arm BTW ? little on the weak side? bellow avg, avg? above avg? outstanding? im guessing avg sence he was the most accurate in the E11, if he had the arm/accuracy and the smarts i guess he would be gone.

I heard he was in Oregon last week working out with ncle Rico....Now his arm is strong enough he can throw a football across the Smokey Mtns

Grayson Visit Update:

Kiffin blew him off!! A report on a Portland News blog says Grayson was in town visiting and got a tour from the recruiting coordinator. Kiffin and the OC didn't even show their face to say hi!

Looks like your new staff is confident in what they are potentially getting or............

they are complete idiots for not to taking the time of day to visit with a recruit that travels across the country. I am geussing the latter but it's still early.

Not a good way to network in my opinion!!

Dude the Recruiting Coordinator is Coach O. He is second in charge after Kiffin. That is a big deal. So I would wait on jumping the gun.

Are we sure Kiffin and/or Chaney were in town yesterday? I think we can all agree they are not complete idiots. Leads one to conclude things are looking up on the QB front.

Orgeron was confident that he could lure Joe McKnight to Ole Miss...oops. He's now at USC.

As for Grayson's less than stellar visit, told you so.

they may or may not be in town. Orgeron has been going back and forth between Knoxville and Destin as recruits show up. Its supposed to be vacation this month so they may be gone. I'm almost certain Monte is in Tampa and wouldn't be surprsied if Lane and family also down there

LWS,

What's the latest you are hearing on Scroggins? Are our chances improving in your mind?

I never saw it in Heaps... and he didn't seem to tear it up in camps this summer either.

I can't remember the name but the last huge prospect from the Seattle area was a WR from around SeaTac. I believe he went to ND and disappeared.

From what I read, WA football in general is weaker (expected), but it's top programs are as good as any program on the West Coast.

As for players, there are always players. Jake Heaps this year (who btw won the Stanford Nike MVP and is expected to be in the Rivals 100). Kavario Middleton a year ago (high 4 stars TE on Rivals and 5 star on scout). Taylor Mays (consensus 5 star). Jonathon Stewart (#1 RB in the nation in 2005 and plays in the NFL now). Schillings.
Again, plenty of top end talent, but the quantity is a bit lacking.

Oh please. It's entirely possible the coaches were not aware that he was coming, considering he did this on the fly. Like LWS said, this is vacation time for the coaches, and they may not have been in town when Grayson showed up.

I'm really not trying to offend you guys but by comparison WA had one 4* player last year while OR had no 4-5* players.... In the states I mentioned:

GA- 5*=2, 4*=20
SC- 4*=13
NC- 5*=1, 4*=8
TN- 4*=5
IL- 4*=9
MO- 5*=1, 4*=3

It is somewhat telling that Rivals only lists a top 15 in WA and top 10 in OR.

Good point but the teams he mentioned to get ranked nationally. It is thin though just a few solid programs. Evergreen is in the division Heritage plays in.

For one, last year was a down year.

And second, as I said/heard, the top end talent is there, but thin. It's concentrated in only a few programs and those programs can rival any on the West Coast (e.g. Skyline).

FWIW, I seriously doubt any of these recruits would have the talent to overcome Stephens' experience advantage as a RS SR. Bell maybe could but I doubt there's another in this class that can.

It is much, much more important for UT to get some solid OL commits and start building from there on O. The QB's heads will turn when they see mediocre QB's being protected and helped by the receivers and backs.

WA4-5* players- 2007=4, 2006=3, 2005=5

The thing about the national rankings for HS's is that there's not that many games out of state. The teams you mentioned may or may not be great if they played say in south Ga. Again, I'm not trying to hurt your feelings and certainly there's a potential for players to come from anywhere... just a lower potential from the northwest.

Again, I'm only passing along info from what I read.

And my feelings aren't hurt. You may or may not have read this before, but I didn't get into the NW until last year. Before that, I was always in the Deep South.

not good that Kiff didnt meet with him when he visited....I think it hurt his impression of UT. I think he wouldnt give a rats ass though if we offered and would commit on the spot.
