Anderson is a cousin of California QB-target Jesse Scroggins and there are rumblings he could be offered in the future. This does not, however, mean they are a package deal or that Scroggins has campaigned for his friend and cousin. That is unfair to both parties.

Scroggins stated, that he would like to be reunited in college with Anderson, but as always sometimes fans take their interpretation and run with it. Please do not get carried away with this and allow the kids be judged on their own merits.

Anderson is a prospect with elite size, but most would agree he is underdeveloped as a wide receiver prospect.

After finishing UT camp, Scroggins says he has not committed to Vols : Football Recruiting : GoVolsXtra.com

“We used to play together when we were like five and six (years old) and we’ve been trying to hook up since, but it hasn’t really worked out yet,” Anderson said. “Hopefully Tennessee can make that happen.”

Anderson said he has scholarship offers from Duke, Ole Miss, Purdue, Indiana and Middle Tennessee State. He said he was hoping for a UT offer before the end of the day on Saturday.

“I haven’t seen him in four years,” Scroggins said of his cousin. “Working out with him was a great thing. I’m hoping they offer him.”

Obviously at his junior weight, he needs to add bulk and strength. Not a bad project to take an in-state 6'5 wide receiver, or at least I think most people would agree.

I wonder if we would offer the kid just to get Jesse on board.

This kid does not seem to be one of those game breakers. He might be a good end zone target or a guy that gets the possessions. Not going to see a lot of yards after the catch with this guy.

Guess it's safe to say no one ever looked at your paper during a test...:p

He is an intriguing prospect because of his height, but being Scroggins' cousin doesn't hurt. :good!:

However, Ole Miss and David Cutcliffe must see something to offer, since neither are pursuing Scroggins.

I've never been a fan of offering one player just to get another...

If this kid is good enough to play at UT and make a difference, fine. Offer him. But Kiffin and co. have said over and over that they don't want to offer kids that will sit on the bench for 4 or 5 years.

Also, if Scroggins wants to play for UT, he should commit because he likes the school, not because he can blackmail them into helping out his cuz.

A 6'5 receiver sounds great, but his highlights are very unimpressive. He's playing against TN high school competition (which is weak at best) and he constantly stops and tries to go east/west but isn't fast enough to pull it off. There's a reason he isn't showing up on Rivals and Scout. He's a 2* prospect, maybe 3* at best.

From his highlight reel he looks like a big target that knows how to seal smaller db's off with his body and has soft hands. He may claim a 4.5 40 speed, but he doesn't really show it. Doesn't seem like a game breaker but could be a solid possession receiver if used correctly. Didn't see any clips of him going up after a high pass, would be interesting to see if he has the vertical and the ability to go up after a pass in the redzone. If he does receive an offer, I look for him to be a project type of player. Definately not an immediate impact kind of guy.

Well, at least he's not scared of contact.....

I think his QB was trying to get him killed on a couple of those passes. I'd like to see his wheels a little more....if there were a couple of go routes on there, I'da been happier with the video. Just my $.02

Not a bad project at 6'5", though.

Exactly what I thought, although when he broke away on that one play you could tell he was fast. He has long strides so it looks like he is moving slow, when in reality he's covering a lot of ground in a short amount of time.

He will commit because he wants to adding his cousin would be a little extra incentive.

Good enough for David Cutcliffe, generally good enough for me. If he has a firm offer from Duke, then obviously people see potential.

Obviously he's not a burner. He's a redzone/possession type receiver. Although limited in his usage, there are worse things a young man could be than a 6'5 WR.

i'm just surprised nobody knew about this cousin situation earlier

Brent Hubbs posted him in his War Room on 5/1. I didn't see the point in starting a thread on a name, which I wasn't sure would ever come up again.

From what I can gather, Anderson was interested in Tennessee going into this weekend.

Im trying to go to as many elite Nike camps that i can go to over the course of the summer. But Im mainly trying to go to Tennessee, Auburn and Ole Miss camps when they have one.

He seems like he isn't scared to get hit. He seems to have pretty good hands. 6'5 he would be a threat in the end zone. Another big time receiver and we are in buisness.

Go Vols!

Offer him ! What can it hurt ? Offer him and we get a tall enzone WR threat and Scroggins. Whats the deal ?

you can't be serious

Why not. He's obviously got a lot of room to grow and mature size-wise. Big guy with good hands, projected to be a project, I don't see why not. Unless the coaches definitely think he can play wide-out, I don't see what it hurts bringing him and seeing what we can do with him. So, tell me why???!!!
:good!:
