'10 TN QB Barry Brunetti

i hope he comes here. i know hes not accustomed to a pro-style offense, but if the coaches didnt think he could be coached up to fit that style, they probably (unless they were desperate) wouldnt have offered him. what better staff than ours to coach him?

height isnt ideal, but can be worked around. im not sure he will come here though. west virinia is the mecca of spread offense (or was with CRR). im more convinced he will go to penn state. i live near PSU, and although i absolutley can not stand them or their fans, 2of their last three QB's have been very effective and similar build. daryll clark is gone soon and the prospect of stepping in to replace them in their "HD spread" might be too much to ignore.

I'm kind of singing the same chorus as some of my other Vol-a-holics....

Why would we offer Brunetti, yet tell Tahj Boyd he wasn't good enough? Boyd was a better pocket passer, Army All-American, and obviously had a great feel playing with Bryce Brown in that game. Those 2 together in the backfield would be better than anything we have at the QB position (as of right now) for the next 2 seasons.

Brunetti is more of an athlete playing QB, plus he's playing high school football in TN which is in the bottom half of the 50 states as far as high school football talent.

Bottom half of the 50 states????
D2 2A is stacked...loaded with talent. Did YOU watch Boyd play in High School....in person?? If you did...and have seen Brunetti in person, then you can make an argument.

:birgits_giggle: Please start naming off states that have a better looking top 10 than Tennesee as far as prospects go:

Jacques Smith
James Stone
Barry Brunetti
Justin Maclin
Keiwone Malone
O.C. Brown
Keon Williams
Ferlando Bohanna
Zak Tait
Fred Harvey

I'll go ahead and get a few of the states out of the way for you. Texas, Cali, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Michigan, Virginia, Mississippi, North Carolina, Alabama. That's 10. I want you to name the other 15 states with a better top 10 than Tenn. Let's not forget, that Tenn is absolutely loaded with talent for the 2011 class...

yeah. good observation. but did you read the part where he said hes impressed with the QB depth at TN not being so good? that implies that he wants to play soon. what if we sign scroggins? or another pro-style QB? what does that say about his chances? yeah, he can try to prove himself, but i wouldnt wager on him in camp over a taller, pro-style QB. i say he goes where he has the best chance to play quick, and if he thinks TN is the best shot for that, more power to him, and we picked up a good QB :)

im not saying that we dont have a legit shot. the fact that hes been a UT fan is awesome. but i wouldnt at all be surprised if he went somewhere else designed for his style of play (the spread) if we were to pick up a pro-style QB

I really don't know much about high school players and recruiting them so you probably have a leg up on me in that department. I just took what he was saying as that he loved Tennessee and wasn't scared of competition. Sounds sorta like Jonathan Crompton, huh.

I believe I've read where he's always been a UT fan and speculation is that he would commit as he was offered.

What are you saying PA Vol?

This is basically a great QB from within the state in a corner of the state where UT needs better relations.

He's a 4* QB who the staff must feel can play. What makes you so sure he can't hold his own with anyone in this recruiting class? If we get both, then so be it. But if this guy is good enough to get the nod from the staff, I'm not going to say he can't compete and win the starting position.

Moreover, I suspect we'll have more than one great QB on the sidelines within the next couple of years. USC has 3 in their system now. That's where I think we're heading.

Oregon? :eek:lol: :eek:lol:

i completely agree with you. sorry if i didnt phrase it better. i understand we need better relations in the state of tennessee. im not a recruiting guru so my word means nothing. if CLK and staff think that hes got the stuff than im in no place to disagree. i would love to see him commit tomorrow and get the ball rolling for OL and WR recruits to come follow. im just saying that it will be curious to see how he adapts to a pro-style offense. i dont know him so i only make the assumption that a pro-style QB would have the edge. if he can out-do a pro-style QB, than that goes to show that he has not only the athletic ability but also the mental edge to be the starter.

also, i was thinking that if playing time is really important to him, how do you think he will respond if we sign another QB or two? will he welcome the challenge? by what he said id say he does and thats good. i just hope another school cant offer him something better. simply put, i want him to be a vol, but at this point its not 100% clear.

hope i cleared everything up :)

The 6-1, 208-pound rising senior recently visited camps at in-state Tennessee and Ole Miss, where he received verbal offers. He said he will make a mental ranking when he returns home next week. He is considering holding a press conference in July to make his call official.

Per Rivals...

Why? Because of his last name?
Kiffin and Crew could have offered him.
They apparently did not think he was good enough.

or they were afraid he would say no.. I think he knew where he was going anyway.. He was just making sure before he committed to them.,,

So they wouldn't offer the kid because they were afraid he'd say no? Huh?

He may have known where he was going but he didn't get an offer because they didn't think he was worth offering. IMO

If he is such a UT fan, you think he'd have had something orange on for camp. He was wearing grey and blue.
