Barry Brunetti - Football Recruiting

Barry Brunetti is a 2010 quarterback prospect for Memphis University School and he has led his team to a 4-0 record this year with wins against Melrose, Kingsbury, Carver and Olive Branch (Miss.). None were bigger than beating one of the top teams from the Magnolia State. In that game Brunetti rushed for 98 yards and two scores and also threw for two touchdown passes.

In their four wins Brunetti has accounted for nine scores and rushed for 303 yards.

good size for a dual threat QB. Prolly won't go after him if we get Boyd

I have heard his name mentioned before. I dont know much about him at all. Would love to see his team play a mid-state team so I could watch him.

very good player...maybe the top QB prospect in the state for next year....but he could play other positions...he was on an unofficial to UT for NIU game and has interest in the Vols....

From a poster over on Rivals:

Just had a good talk with Barry's uncle, the HC at Pearl-Cohn in Nashville, about his nephew, Barry. He told me that Barry's dad is pro UT, and everyone is just telling Barry to be patient. Barry hopes to sign somewhere before August. Coach O called his uncle last night and said Barry has an offer as an 'athlete' right now, but coaching staff wants to see his arm in person. Coach Brunetti is going to accompany Barry to UT's camp in a couple weeks and is anxious to meet CLK & staff. Supposedly Saban is coming by soon and hinted if Nick offers ( which he may or may not happen), it may be too late for UT.

Tell Sweet Nick to go ahead and offer. If we (UT) want him, we will get him. "Like taking candy from a baby." (Insert your own music here.)

A top flight QB going to Bama next year would be making a big mistake. He would be sitting behind Star and McCarron.

Good news about McCarron guys. Talked to recruit Tim Simon about two weeks ago and he said McCarron is not good at all. He said he's really not that accurate. Said he doesn't reallÝ have a strong arm.

McCarron could be good we just dont know yet. Even Alabama fans are saying he needs at least 3 years.

Basically the way he was talking he was saying that McCarron threw a lot of balls receivers had to make plays on or they would be picked.

They seem to think McElroy will be the starter.

I can see they're offense sputtering against us this year coming up. The play action to the tight end on 3rd and 3 won't work this year. Also the young backs they have will be taught a hard lesson about this league.

"The entire day was great," Brunetti said following a wet but positive day on Rocky Top. "The facilities were awesome and the coaching staff is unbelievable. It was just a good day overall."

"Tennessee has always been up there," Brunetti said. "They are the home state school and they are in the SEC. It's Tennessee and you know it's a top program. The coaching staff dreams big and they know what the want to accomplish. It's just a great place."

The biggest thing that I learned from today was how intense the staff is. Their intensity is awesome and you can tell they really are focused on winning. They made everything like we were already at Tennessee wearing the orange."

I really like this and I wish more top in state kids start thinking this way.

Unfortunately my friend your arrogance is not going to help the Vols get where they want to be. Where do you come up with "if we want him we'll get him?" Tuscaloosa is 232 mi from Memphis vs 391 to Knoxville. AL Tradition is better, facilities are just as good and coaching staff is proven vs. unproven. UT has not done a whole lot in the avg 2010's memory.

Sure they might get him (or anyone like him) but to say "its like taking candy from a baby" just because the kid lives in the same state is rediculous. Most of the good folks in Middle and East TN would like to see Memphis suceed from TN and become part of AR or MS and I can't say that I blame them and I live in Memphis.

If a kid from Memphis like Brunetti (or anyone like him) is offered 1st by AL then is later offered by UT. I would consider UT a serious underdog in this battle. Not to say UT could not win but it would not be easy.

Joe Paluka shouldn't you be on Bamaonline talking about how great the "Bear" was? :good!:

rivals now has him listed at 6'0 when he was previously 6'2... If he is 6'0 he seems a little to small for kiffin's offense.
