'10 TN OL James Stone

That is funny but you might want to read all the post before you make that statement.

Luc a UT Lock
Willis a UT lock
Cobbs a UT lock
I can keep going if you like.

Remember this is a fan forum and nothing more. Beside some info that gets posted from recruiting sites or writers everything is speculation.

Maybe should have held off on this one...

I think this board/fanbase is better educated than most on the mythical nature of recruiting "locks." Not only by what has transpired this recruiting calender, but the last as well.

I don't think Stone has had very good coaching at Maplewood...with quality coaching I think he could help us down the road, imo...

Having grown up in Nashville and having excellent knowledge of the Metro Nashville Public School System because I am a victim of it, it is a virtual gaurantee that he has been neither coached nor taught at all!!! This statement can be made without ANY doubt or equivocation. Ensworth, Brentwood Academy, MBA and the like are fine schools with legitimate programs and coaches. They even have athletic's directors. Public schools in the Mid-state, Not so much. V,B.

I can keep going if you like. "No, you can stop now and roll with the tide out to sea and drown."

Remember this is a fan forum and nothing more. "You should remember this is VolNation, B!"

Uh, no they wouldn't. Given that the two project at two different positions, that wouldn't be a choice they would have to make anyway.

It's almost like you are saying that Green doesn't have NFL potential, but surely you wouldn't be saying something that foolish.

Actually, you completely misinterpreted my post. Let me clarify....

If James called the coached to commit, they would take it. They would also take Green's commit as well. I was trying to say that most of the people that believe that he is down the list are very misinformed. The coaches would take his commitment today. I do believe that Green has just as much, if not more NFL potential as Stone. Sorry, I was misleading, but I posted those posts the night after my transmission blew up on my truck. Clearly, I wasn't thinking well.

Stone dropped us from his final 4 yesterday........

then he added us back today and dropped Stanford lol...

Stone drops Stanford: Maplewood offensive tackle James Stone, one of the state's top football prospects, has a new final four: Alabama, Auburn, Vanderbilt and Tennessee. He added Tennessee to his list and crossed off Stanford.

"(Tennessee) kind of appeals to me a little bit," Stone said. "I'm probably going to wait until signing day to decide."

Stone played for the White team, which lost 32-7 to the Black squad at the Under Armour All-America football game last Saturday in St. Petersburg, Fla.

This may be covered somewhere else in these 63 pages, but a friend of mine at Fisk knows Stone's aunts, and they are very focused on the academic offerings of the school he goes to -- especially asking about graduation rates for the team. Apparently in the first go-round, our coaches flubbed that, and the girls pulled the Vols from James's list. If Tennessee wants to win over James's family, they have to really pitch the educational side of things over the athletic. I hope CEO is doing just that.

What's the deal with these recruits letting senior women in their families pick their school for them? I'm not going to be upset if we don't get Stone, but I just don't understand that business.

That's just retarded. Why is a kid that is talking about ND and Vandy worried about graduation rates? He should find graduating a cake walk. Those parents with kids who are atrocious students and blow off school should be worried about graduation rates.

This just makes no sense.

Agreed, if the kid is a good student he will graduate no matter what college he attends.

That's completely untrue. Stone never dropped us. For some reason his coach is communicating to the media and he doesn't have the slightest clue what is really going on with James' recruitment.

Like I said before and in my recruiting update, listen to what Stone says -- discount anything from his coach.

Bama, Auburn and Vandy round out his Top 3...per Rivals. I know, not the most reliable or up-to-date source. However, he does a visit scheduled to each school this month.
