1. Lathers needs to get into coaching because his passion is unreal, but the poor guy cannot stay healty

2. CP is legit

3. Hunter is 100%

6. Lane needs to be our starting RB

7. Our power running game still needs marked improvement

8. I love all the pressure we were bringing last night, and hope it continues

Neal was better running to the outside, while Lane was better running between the tackles. The running game wasn't all terrible considering a lot of those plays, NC State rushed 7-8 guys.

I agree with all but #9. Glennon threw on us at will at times. Our linebackers looked the best to me. Solid pressure, 100% improvement over last year identifying the play and flying to the ball and TACKLING! JMO. Great post

Lane played the best I have seen him play. His play showed that he needs more carries.

I was impressed with the whole picture. Better line play, better running, better linebacking, better secondary, improved QB, outstanding receivers, and solid coaching. With 7 new coaches, that stood out. I am excited.

Those big plays were somewhat expected. It was our first game with a new defensive scheme and we were playing a pretty decent QB who knows how to find holes in zone coverage. As the season progresses you will see a whole lot less of those big pass plays let up, and maybe even more interceptions.

It's gonna take both Neal and Lane feeding off each other for us to have a great running game this year. I notice once Lane entered the game it became a positive boost for the run. Time to get back and work on some first game mental mistakes across the board.

I SAID IT'S GREAT TO BE A TENNESSEE VOL, I SAID IT'S GREAT TO BE A TENNESSE VOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :peace2:

I agree with pretty much everything.

Glennon is a good qb and while he found a few seams in the first half, it seems like we made adjustments at the half that cleaned that up a bit. I was happy to see all the adjustments that were made.

The running game showed signs of life. I think it will get better as well. Neal has got to learn when to cut inside. Lane looked very good. If we can get 150-200 yards a game between them. Then this could be a great year.

Bray looked pretty good, but I suspect we will see even better from him.

I agree with it all albeit I was wondering if the secondary was really there on some of the plays. The D hit HARD, was fast, pressured A LOT (which left the middle open a lot) and besides tripping on the turf towards an almost sure touchdown, tore it up with the picks. Oh yeah and they tackled real well it seemed. Penalties were non existent besides the pass interference if I remember correctly.

More than 4 INTs?

We got 9 all of last year. Against Glennon, I think 4 is pretty fantastic.

Except for that one touchdown by Neal, Lane was the only guy who seemed to be able to run between the tackles.

Lane played more in the 2nd half, which seemed to coincide w/ Chaney using Bart more in the backfield as a FG in an offset I. With him going through the hole first (and the OL was creating holes), he was clearing out the LB or safety who tried to plug it. I hope Chaney took note of the fact we were getting alot more positive yardage w/ a FB in the backfield.

Disagree with #9. Yes they had 4 huge interceptions but... they also got burned up the middle alot. The SEC OC's will pick up on that and exploit it. But then again, it was the first game and I think this staff will fix the problem.

I don't think Hunter looked 100% though. He caught some balls, but he didn't seem as explosive. He also dropped a couple of balls that he would have caught last year. Hopefully that was a knock off the rust game for him.

The team overall, did well. I'm still not giddy over the run game, and we need a little better pass rush. We did get pressure, but not enough sacks. Palardy is still kicking the ball low on FG's and EP's. He needs to get those higher or we'll have a couple of blocks this season. It still feels good to get a win.

Another thing the vols did that stuck out to me was they seemed to have way fewer penalties than average...I never seen the actual stats and it may not be true but I remember thinking last year it seemed like everytime we had a big play it always got called back. Tonight we kept making all these huge plays and they all stuck! I was so glad too...that is a sign of better coaching IMO.

Great game Vols. I'm very impressed so far with the offense as well as the defense.

Didn't get to watch the game so I listened to it and our announcers were pretty critical of neal and young. They said the guys still run like they're in high school. Instead of hitting it up the middle when they had a seam, they would try to bounce it outside for little or no gain. They said Lane was running hard between the tackles. I look forward to watching the replay on sports south.

The words "even more" mean that we had a great number of INTs, implying that if we don't have the mistakes we had in the first half we could have games where we get "EVEN MORE" INTs.
