I don't know signed a LOI with Fresno State on signing day, just got the text saying he was on campus. I don't know if we have any more '10 schollies but even if we did why waste one on a punter when we got Palardy coming in?

Isn't this the kid that decommitted from USC and signed with Fresno State?

Yup. Wow field position is soo under-rated IMO. Palardy on Kick-offs and this guy punting with Palardy booming 50 yarders are huge in close games. Last year should be enough evidence for that but It'd be a huge pick-up IMO

I don't know if he ever signed an LOI but he is looking around due to FSUs special teams coach bolting for USC. had offers from USC, Bama, LSU, etc. He said this on March 3rd:
“I was real shocked and disappointed in [John Baxter’s] decision,” said Matt Darr. “It felt like I’ve been betrayed. Now, I’m going to a school where I expected a coach to be there.

“Baxter was a huge factor in my decision. [My family] were very confident that he was going to be there. He had been the coach there for over 10 years. I just feel shocked.”

“I don’t really know what the process would be,” Darr said if he considers not going Fresno State. “That is just something that I haven’t talked about with my family."

Would be an awesome get.

Just a fun tidbit, if he comes here we would have the #1 rated kicker and punter combination from the 2010 class haha.

Sounds promising. A top kicker and punter in one class. Special teams would be special again.

It looks like Darr did sign an LOI to FSU.

That means he would be considered a transfer and would not count as a member of the '10 class.

But that also means he would have to sit out this coming year.

LV...aren't we out of schollies for this year unless someone doesn't make it through the clearinghouse or qualify academically?

Hmm maybe he could make an appeal to try and get out of his LOI? I mean I would love to have him but we do also have Palardy coming in, he looks like he could handle on the kicking jobs.

We wouldn't be hurting too bad if he couldn't play 'til next year.

Cunningham can get us through it, he is an ok punter.

one other thing. it is illegal for UT to be talking to him if he signed an LOI to FSU. only 2 things can explain why we are talking to him:

1) he never actually signed an LOI

2) he has already received his release and is transferring

If he signed an LOI, yet never enrolled, he is not bound by it. He should be able to go wherever he wants to without sitting out.

if you count the baseball player, then yes.' but I am fairly certain that his MLB organization is going to pay his tuition.

and if he is a transfer, then it does not matter whether the baseball player is on scholly.
