'10 OLB/DE Avery Williamson

Wasn't Willis rated so low because his grades were terrible or something?

Just checked Rivals though and he was a 3*.

Also says he was getting calls from the Vols early and they were his favorite team.

I dont really feel like reading the rest.

Williamson should be a good player for UK, but I just don't think you can justify taking him over guys like Jacques, Miller, Willis, Delvin Jones, ..etc

I believe CMK and CEO will have another chance to look at him in the state championship game. I believe Milan plays York Inst. this week. If Alcoa wins, we will see a rematch of last years game where Williamson had 22 tackles against a good Alcoa team.

Avery Williamson...

well..

hes a beast.

22 tackles, against Alcoa? MLB. Are you kidding me? Nobody has even touched Alcoa in 5 years in Tennessee except Maryville and this kid was hitting them in the backfield up at MTSU last season. And Kiffin doesn't think hes worthy? Patrick Willis played 20 minutes from my hometown. Eh? Pro Bowl. Are you kidding me?

Avery also has the grades to get into Vanderbilt. With ease.

Yet TN hasn't offered. :bad:

Guess he'll have to prove it again next week. Looks like another Milan v.s. Alcoa showdown.

This kid is unbelievable. In the State champ. game he lead the game in tackles. He has great speed, good size, and most important he is exactly the type of kid you want on your team. Furthermore he wants to be a Vol. What more could you ask for? Come on coaches. Offer this kid ASAP!

Even if UT offers late, I think Avery is all Wildcat. Very good shot at starting next year as a true freshman.

Randy Sanders has been all over this kid for months.

A week after having a 13 tackle game against Alcoa, Avery had a record setting 10 tackle performance in the East/West allstar game. He also won Defensive MVP for the West.

With our need for LBs, why are we not all over there making offers? Maybe a space issue. Is he an EE? If not, he may receive some attention after the holidays.

Would love to see this one in orange. A fundamentally sound player with good size, strength, speed, character, and coachable. Don't guess we need any of that. Hopefully we make a late push if some of the others on our board don't want us.

Yeah, Randy Sanders is a genius. If he thinks a player can cut in the SEC, we're crazy not to offer.

I think this is one guy we are missing on but if the staff thinks they have better talent in line to come to UT, I'll trust them. I think this kid will have a good career wherever he lands.

Avery Williamson was the East/West defensive player of the game. He led all tacklers in the state championship game against Alcoa the week before. How many big games does this kid have to have at the BIG LEVEL? Avery looks like a monster out there and is playing like one too. A few of these LB's that tn has signed would get worked in one on one drills with Williamson...he has that knack for MLB. Where is Monte Kiffin right now..I know he has to be thinking abou this kid.

3A football in Tennessee isn't exactly the big level.

He looks like a specimen in person, plays like one too. I think he could easily go to almost anyone's program, redshirt a year, and be ready to contribute by his RS Sophomore season.

No joke, he has the longest wingspan of any sub 6'5 guy i've ever seen

Sounds exactly like what people said about Chris Donald.

People said to bring in Chris Donald, a 5 star LB, and sit him for 2 season and he could probably being contributing during his RS sophomore year?

"people" around here must have a low opinion of apparent elite players....

Funny you say that. Alcoa drilled Maryville ...who was in the 6A state championship. Alcoa actually had 6 rushing touchdowns and over 400 yards rushing. Avery Williamson racked up 22 tackles and set a state record last year against Alcoa. Had 13 this year. You tell me whats the Big Level bub? Alcoa or Milans defense might have been the best in tennessee period. Avery Williamson had almost everything to do with it. Sounds like sour grapes from you. Chris Donald..:stop:eek:k....Patrick Willis? ...Yeah. or even better..Al Wilson..from jackson central merry.. I guess the Big Level wasn't the East West All Star Game where he led all tacklers and was the Defensive Player of the Game. Won the Ole Miss Lineback camp award for Best Linebacker.

Frankly just a little ill that Golden Tate gets out of TN, Brunetti from MUS, Patrick Willis from Bruceton and countless others...just like you...because I guess they weren't playing at the "big level" as you refer. BTW, Patrick Willis came from a 1A school down in Bruceton, TN.

I wouldn't put Williamson in the category of Donald. Williamson will be a good player, IDK that he will be an elite LB in college but I think we could do much worse than him. I'll trust the staff though if they think they have better prospects but I think this guy will be very good.

We have enough "good" players at LB. We need elite talent. That's why the coaches are pushing hard to get Bruce Irvin back.

I don't think you're understanding me. I think Williamson could be an elite talent, it is hard to compare him to these other guys because of the talent level he faces. He is a smart, extremely hard working kid, who dominates no matter who he faces or at least to this point. I think if he doesn't become an elite talent, he would still be a very good LB that you would feel comfortable playing if needed. Again if we can land these great LBs who have faced elite competition fine; I'm just saying I think Williamson could be a very good LB for us maybe more.
