To me, after a 'truck' you continue to run until you hit another defender, at least. This is like when Tebow 'trucked' EB. Didn't ever happen. It's really a decent tackle by a small db on a huge qb with a full head of steam. Falling forward and trucking aren't the same things.

So from that video do you want him as a fullback? If you're looking to sway people into believing that they should want him, try finding some film of him throwing passes. You know, what we want our quarterbacks to do here.

If you are trying to change peoples minds you could atleast find a decent video (if one exists) of him throwing a great pass because no one gives a flying "f" if he can run because that is completely irrelevant in our system. The video was no even in the least bit impressive either. 6'5 250 ran over 5'9 180, IMPRESSIVE!!!!

The worst thing about watching that video again is having to listen to Gary and Verne giggle, scream, and pee a little bit in their panties over it. God have mercy, that's just embarassing to listen to.

It's odd that only Kansas State and Mississippi State have offered him so far.
Oklahoma is in the mix now too...per the latest Rivals article on him. They sent a rep to his championship game.

If you want to see some better footage, blinn college has their own Youtube page, and that footage made my jaw hit the floor. Kid can sling the pill folks....I think the question mark over his attitude is what keeps the staff away. Sad too. I think he's worth the risk...put him on a short, short leash and give him a chance to redeem himself.

But, based on that article, we're clearly out of it....voluntarily so, it looks like...so it's water under the bridge at this point. Time to move on, just like losing out on the Jeff Luc sweepstakes.

"I have to do what's best for me," Newton said. "I'm not going to a situation where they're already stacked at the quarterback position. I want to go to a school where I have the capability of playing right away and where I'm going to be the man. I have to play right now. There's no ifs ands or buts about it."
.

lol that is kinda dumb for him to just come out and say it bluntly like that...

It's not like it's the first time he's said that. I told you guys months ago this dude wants to be told he's going to be the man before he commits anywhere. That's the chief reason he will not be in a Volunteer uniform IMO.

Hubbs said when we first started recruiting him that wanted to be promised the job. I just didn't think he would come out and say it like that...

And I don't wanna get into an argument, but I agree with eric and LWS about the reason Newton will never be a Vol. He doesn't fit the system jmo...

He came out and said it in an interview with some paper (can't remember if it was a Texas paper or FL paper) and that was prior to Brent saying it. I said it here before Brent did IIRC.

You can believe what you want about "fitting the system" but Brunetti is being recruited harder than any other QB out there right now and the same people said the same things about him. The only way he doesn't fit this system is if the coaches don't think he has it all upstairs to thrive in this system. (certainly a possibility from some things I've been told.) Physically he fits it better than half the QBs we've offered this year.

It's about time.

sounds like a real brat.
For a high school kid, I'd have to agree...but Newton has already waited in line. can't blame him for trying to find a fit, so he doesn't have to wait in line and miss the boat. He's confident that he can lead whatever team, successfully and I believe it too. I think CLK knows Cam would likely lead to a big season next year, but I think they are just turned off by the character questions.

Personally, I think the risk is minimal and the reward is colossal....but carrying this conversation on further is getting pointless.
