Sure...and there were those who had friends who had friends who had friends, whose mother's uncle's Dad knew someone on staff...and said emphatically Gruden is our coach....not Kiffin. :)

I take all these "connections" for what their worth...a warm cup of Jack Squat.I'm not predicting anything one way or the other...just waiting to see how it shakes out.
Again...Jeff Fisher got a bad case of stupid (choosing to hang his hat on a washed up backup...even despite horrific play from him game after game) for 6 straight losses, and only when the man writing the checks told him..."Enough of the B.S!...put Vince in" did Fisher look like the goof for having this $10 mill+ player riding the bench all season long. Vince's resurgence just goes to show that even entire staff's can miss badly in their evaluating. CLK stated in an interview earlier in the season, with Tony Basillio, that they made some bad evals at USC and was very close to never giving Leinhart a chance.

After seeing how VY can make a veteran coach look stupid for discounting him, I hope CLK and staff give Cam a VERY hard look. What is helping the Titans climb out of this massive hole is not only VY's game management and passing ability, but his ability to burn a defense with his feet is opening things up for Chris Johnson...just as I suspected it might well before Bud overruled Jeff Fisher about making the change.

I believe Cam has the potential to be a better QB than Vince...he appears to be a better passer for sure. Putting Cam on a short leash and letting him know that he cannot deviate off the straight and narrow or his NFL aspirations go in the toilet, will be plenty enough to keep him out of trouble, IMHO.

How you equate all of the Cameron Newton stuff to the Titans and Vince stuff is beyond me. Still though, the staff has already looked at Cam and has passed. You can sit there and still believe that the staff will still look at him, for all that matters, but they have passed on him.

Because you have the same skillset/freakish height,weight, and speed...and appears to be a better passer.

We'll know in a few weeks if Gruden is our coach...uh hum...I mean if the staff has already passed on Cam or not.

I swear, I think you like to argue just for the sake of arguing. Believe what you want, but your comparisions of the Titans and UT have no bearing on this situation, other than both teams are located in the state of Tennessee.

Good luck with the Cam thing, I hope youre right....I want him on my EA NCAA 2011 team!

Look, they evaluated both, and neither came away with an offer after it was crystal clear that if they were to offer one that Simms would be who they offered. Obviously, Cam is still a bad egg and got suspended before the coaches showed up to his game, and Simms sucks just enough to not be offered either. If you really want to argue for the sake of arguing, then your getting what you want. Cam doesn't fit the system and will not get an offer, just because he SAYS that he wants to play in a PS offense doesn't mean he can or will, and Simms just isn't good enough to get one either according to what has transpired in the past month. Good luck in your personal Cameron Newton pilgrimage.

Us?...as in staff members or regular schmucks who think they know what transpires in the coaches meetings.
Pretty sure they guard their moves/decisions rather closely, and that such decisions are very fluid and tentative...so again, I'll wait and see instead of taking some guy's opinion who's avatar/self portrait is that of a crack fiend

I'm just optimistic...not trying to convince you or anyone else that this staff will move one way or the other...unlike self-proclaimed experts like yourself. Funny how many times you can be wrong and you brush it off as just part of the process, yet let someone else hold out a little hope for a prospect they like and you do your best to lay down the law as if you're in any position to speak on behalf of this staff.

Like I said, we will all see soon enough....sooooo, how is that Coach Gruden thing going?

I really don't know. I believe the ship has sailed on the JUCOs and the only high schoolers they appear to still be recruiting are Rees and Scroggins...

Sabanocchio and LV are the ONLY people on here who I pose recruiting questions to, seeing as how they seem to be the only ones who are consistently accurate, everything else I can look up on my own.

I agree. That made no sense. Newton obviously has talent but seriously? Even if he went to UT, he would still be in the breaking in process against Oregon and Florida.......not an easy task.............that whole post.....just wow

There's no reason Can Newton couldn't play in a pro-style offense. Vince Young plays in a pro-style offense.

The fact he hasn't been offered now tells me one of two things, one, he doesn't fit our system that the coaches want in place for the QB's, two, we want someone else that fits better or has more upside from what the coaches see. It's probably a combination of both really, but probably the whole character issues and the thought that he is a team cancer from what I have been told by more than one person is reason enough not to take him. He's just isn't a good overall fit anyway you look at it.

I wouldn't rule him out. He likes Tennessee but I don't know if we are pursuing really hard at this time. Mississippi State seems like the team going after him the hardest.
