If he panicked and threw it out the window that means he KNEW it was stolen when he bought it. That is certainly a honorable character trait.

You must be Mr. Paul PureBread, cause you've obviously never done anything wrong. Everyone has took something that wasn't theirs one time or another, weither it was money or some candy as a kid. I'd bet he regrets what he done and has learned from it. Everyone deserves a second chance even you.

Honestly, if the worst thing he has done is steal a laptop then im ok with it.
There are guys on the team and guys who were recruits last year who did much worse than buy a stolen laptop.

Jacking a computer is hardly comparable to shoplifting a piece of double bubble.

Are you serious?

If you would read the quote instead of reading what you want you would understand. First he didn't JACK a laptop be gave someone money for it. That's not stealing. Taking Double Bubble out the store is though. He was the receipient of the property. Yea, if I pay 100 for a laptop I'm gonna think something is up too. But, we dealing with immature teenagers. Fresh off of Mom's Teet. If you think he's the same guy and would posibly cause problems at UT you're entitled to feel that way. But, if he's offered and accepts, comes in and throws for +40 TD's, keeps his nose clean, will you still have the same feelings?

Larry, if we get neither Simms nor Newton, do you think NS starts next season, we go with a Frosh, or is there another Juco in play?

I'm not sure what they do. If they have another Juco somewhere they are interested in he is well hid. If nothing happens by Halloween, then they didn't like what they saw this weekend but I will be very surprised if that happens. I think they will have one of these two. I suspect this weekend is more of "confirm our thinking on direction". Doubt anything new is learned with these trips.

They are not anxious to go with a freshman or what is on campus. they don't believe that would be very successful IMO.

Nobody knows the details of the case, but it's certainly within the realm of possibility that he didn't care where it came from when he bought it. Electronics drop through the floor in value after they are purchased.

I paid over $700 for a nice digital camera (with carrying case and memory)...and that was after shopping around on the web for the best bang for my buck.

3months later (after my Photography class was over), I decided I didn't really need the camera and that it would likely just gather dust...needing to pay the bills was a higher priority than keeping it in the closet. I got about half of what I paid for it on EBay.

If you paid a friend a few hundred $$$ for a decent laptop, and then when authorities came looking for it, you might chuck it too instead of going through all the hassle.

He may have just then realized it was stolen...we don't know, but calling him a CONVICTED criminal is utterly ridiculous. It just shows how quickly people are ready to pre-judge folks with little to know information to base it on. The same people who are quick to judge others are the same ones who have radar detectors in their car, or have at least once in their lifetime, driven home after having a number of alcoholic drinks. Just cause you didn't get caught, doesn't make you any less innocent. You know you dodged a bullet. Given that, why not put the gun down, cowboy.

I'd say the kid has already paid enough of a price for any indiscretions he may have committed. It's time to move on.

I know this wasn't directed at me, but I can't see the ginger playing at UT again. This staff has zero confidence in his ability (and neither do I).

I love it that people who want Newton to play at UT have no problem justifying his behavior. First of all, buying a stolen good with the knowledge that it is stolen is in fact the same thing as stealing it. According to the law there is a stiff penalty for this offense. I am a little confused. You guys are saying he didnt do anything wrong when he bought the computer and that he is a tremendous amazing 5-star caliber QB. So my question is why did Meyer not fight for him and try to keep him at UF? It doesnt seem to make much sense if everything you guys say it true.

That's just it...you keep inventing your own facts. Nobody ever claimed he knew the laptop was stolen. That's always a possibility when you buy something 2nd hand...and again, electronics aren't worth jack after you buy them new...so, it's pure speculative BS on your part to add in your own version of the events and make yourself both judge and jailer.

Again...if you ever drove after having a few drinks...you're a lower life form than he is...you just didn't have your feet held to the fire...yet.

Time to brush up on your math, aye?

Look, class...1) Nick Stephens 2) Nick Lamaison, and 3) Tyler Bray, an early enrollee.

So, kidos, how many QB's to you have? 2? No, wrong answer....5? No, try again...:)

Isn't it awesome when you are trying to correct someone and have a typo in your post?

I am not inventing facts. If he bought a computer that was legit WHY IN THE WORLD would you throw it out the window when the cops come. Again, if you want to be bias and try to justify his actions because you want him at UT then by all means go ahead. People dont throw legit computers out the window when they see cops.

I dont know why this argument has anything to do with my actions. But, I have never once gotten behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated. I have also never stolen anything. Maybe I am just boring though.

I think Urban Meyer's actions in this instance tell us much more than you want to admit. If the details were in Newton's favor Meyer would have made a strong push to keep him at UF.
