Sab, I do not see how my last commit was a "fail". I know I don't carry a lot of weight on this message board since I do not not have a lot of posts or sources like your self. Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate everything you bring to these boards, since you have given me alot of info on the Vols. And I know the name of our #2 QB btw, sorry I misspelled it (which is Nick Stephens and wears the #17 jersey). I have been following these message boards and college football for a long time now, and I have a rivals account which means I know just as much info as most of the people that post on here. I was just simply giving my opinion on why I don't think we should take Newton. Newton is a spread option QB with known accuracy problems, which is why I do not think that he would fit Kiffin's system. All I was trying to say is that I think that Bray and Laminson will be fine options next year, if Nick gets injured. And that is why I do not think we do have room for him (which was a response to tim). I think we need to focus on other positions (especially OL) for this year, and worry about taking 2 QB's next year which has a much deeper class.

isnt in lamaison? or something like that? haha

Dude. Fail. How are you going to come on here and pretend to know college football, but you don't even know the name of our #2 QB?

My guess is your knowledge on whether or not Newton would be a fit at QB in this offense is equally lacking.

A little harsh and funny that you said #2 QB. Nick Lamaison is not considered #2 over Nick Stephens by his mom.

I freaking love Cam Newton, but whatever I trust the staff. I will just be pissed if we have freaking Munchie or Brunetti or Baty instead of Cam who I think can contribute even if he is not needed at the QB position

I do agree with you MikeHamiltonFan, and I am a big fan of you along with Sab. If we take any another QB at all who is not named Jessie Scroggins (which I do not believe we have much of a shot with anyways) before Newton in this class, I will question our coaches decisions. I was just saying that with Bray on board and Lamaison already in the helm, I think we should not take any other QB's this class. We should focus on other positions, which I should have made more clear in my earlier posts. Anyways GO VOLS and sorry for any confusion I might have made. I am new to actually posting my opinions on boards like these.

save the room for 2011.

2011 is by far a much better class than 2010 for QBs. 5 star prospects in 2011 exist, legit 5 stars

I still want Cam, but the future might be better without him

Last night Hubbs said that the staff still hasn't offered Cam but it is someone they are interested in and they are keeping an eye on him.

Although I've had an extremely hard time taking your posts seriously, I do agree with you here.

Let me start by saying that I don't think Newton is the prototypical QB for our system.I wouldn't be all that surprised to see Bray 3rd string or even reshirted if Kiff decides to pull the trigger on Cam. I'm almost certain that Stephens (stevenson...pfttt) will start next year. That was even my thought through the whole Scroggins mess.

Heck, Newton could serve as an experienced stop gap between Stephens and the true freshmen, Bray (who is not physically ready to step in and play) or the small fish in a big pond, Lamaison.

Newton has a cannon, but can he put the ball where its supposed to be against SEC defenses? Thats where I'm skeptical. If all else fails, we use his size and athleticism to our advantage. I definately wouldn't consider Newton a waste of a scholly.

From what I saw in one of Blinn's games this year, accuracy is not a problem for Cam Newton. When protected, every pass is perfectly on target. Can he read SEC defenses? Can he look-off receivers, not give them the Crompton mesmerizing staredown? We could ask the same question about every QB. At least Cam has a season of high-level QB studying with Florida under his belt.

Please offer Cam Newton NOW.

We currently have a QB that has a cannon for an arm and a pea for a brain. Intelligence and decision making is just as important as accuracy and arm strength. Does Cam have the brain power to become a stellar SEC QB? The big question.

The other big question: Does Cam have the leadership and discipline to be a great SEC QB?

We don't need stellar. We need average. Anything else would be gravy right now.

Just someone that can manage a game and make no mistakes is all UT needs right now.

We need a JPW. I would say that JPW was above average, nothing special. He did the basics well enough, but was not a head case like JC. He got the job done and put Alabama in winning positions.

You are correct.

Average would be an upgrade.

We need to offer Newton. What if Bray doesn't pan out or gets hurt? We are left with guys who are worse than what we saw yesterday...

Is Kiffin even recruiting Cam Newton at all or is this just 92 pages of pure speculation. People keep acting like we are about to sign him and I've heard nothing to even hint that Kiffin wants him.

No...this whole thread is a bunch hype junkies that know absolutely nothing. The staff has ZERO interest in 5 finger newton.

You would think they would know by now if they wanted to offer, maybe waiting to see if we can turn someone. IDK

Yea, I agree. I know the staff has been in contact with him according to the Blinn coaches. And Hubbs said just 2 days ago that there is something going on with UT and Newton. He said he was way down UTs board to begin with, but he is climbing up the board now...

To me, if he can compete for the job next year, he would be worth it. If not, I don't waste the scholly. Give me another OL or DL.

Guess if we knew that, the speculation would be over.

This staff just might realize how bad their 2010 options are. And for them it might be worth it to have Newton come in and play that year while Bray gets prepped.
