after today i kinda think we should offer just in case Bray cant start from day one.... ive been completely against offering him all along but if we had a some what competent qb today we would have won

Let's please offer him - I don't think I can stand having Crompton and Stephens behind center for 3-straight years. 2 is bad enough.

like i said before we should offer him... a week ago i would say no.... but after the game and learning we can take 30 this year instead of 28 i say go for it

I think that Cam is CLK's best chance to make up for not having gotten a QB in 09, and having a fairly efficient offense next season. Let him and Bray duke it out...but I think Cam is the best quick fix prospect there is. I'm also hoping that Nick Lamaison can surprise everyone, and show up.
If Stephens isn't good enough to supplant Crompton, then we need to be looking to get the others ready ASAP.

Don't get too excited. Brent Schaeffer had something like 4,000 total yards and 50 TDs in one season in JUCO. Then he was terrible in Oxford.

Well I wouldn't mind offering him to create competition and such, plus he would be a decent option if Bray isn't ready to go in 2010. I do wonder if he transferred if he would lose a year of eligibility, I'm not that familiar with recruiting rules but he is a sophomore so if he lost a year we would only get him a year.

Well that didn't take a genius to figure out, Still impressive stats...And by the way, Brent Schaeffer played very well for UT when he was healthy. :thumbsup:

Will everyone please forget this guy. We don't have room for him, and even if we did he would not fit our system. Just because he once ran over on of our guys does not mean we should automatically give him a scholarship.

I'd like him for one simple reason. We are one injury away from Stephens being the only option with nothing behind him.

We need Cam Newton. Remember our bu qb broke his wrist in the offseason. Crap happens. And, who said we don't have room for him?

If Stevenson goes down next year we will have Bray and Laminson to back him up, who at least fit into the offensive system Kiffin wants to run. I really don't think we have room for another QB this class with all the OL we will need. Also, with the amount of top quality QB's in next years class that are looking at us, I think taking one QB is fine and we should concentrate on other positions for this years class. That is just my opinion.

Dude. Fail. How are you going to come on here and pretend to know college football, but you don't even know the name of our #2 QB?

My guess is your knowledge on whether or not Newton would be a fit at QB in this offense is equally lacking.

Sab, I do not see how my last commit was a "fail". I know I don't carry a lot of weight on this message board since I do not not have a lot of posts or sources like your self. Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate everything you bring to these boards, since you have given me alot of info on the Vols. And I know the name of our #2 QB btw, sorry I misspelled it (which is Nick Stephens and wears the #17 jersey). I have been following these message boards and college football for a long time now, and I have a rivals account which means I know just as much info as most of the people that post on here. I was just simply giving my opinion on why I don't think we should take Newton. Newton is a spread option QB with known accuracy problems, which is why I do not think that he would fit Kiffin's system. All I was trying to say is that I think that Bray and Laminson will be fine options next year, if Nick gets injured. And that is why I do not think we do have room for him (which was a response to tim). I think we need to focus on other positions (especially OL) for this year, and worry about taking 2 QB's next year which has a much deeper class.
