I have a question. Is there anyway at all that Newton could come this year. Like leave his JUCO early? I mean baseball players do it all the time, why cant football?

has to have grades to transfer.. one can't get into school with academics in order.. his will be available in December BUT, I don't think he is part of plan any longer.

Yeah. I just love the big QBs who can also run it well too so I really liked Newton. with that being said, I am not completely sold on Marve. I know he has the skills and all, but he has gotten suspended twice during one season. That doesnt set well with me at all.

I think we all see that our team has now be settled down so to speak. Marve will be fine here or sent packing with no remorse.

I see your point. Greater reward vs. lose. Nice point.

It's not just about that, but it's about who can be a leader in the huddle and know this offense when they are ready to play. If Marve does come here, he will have a full 6 months in on Newton, if Newton comes here. Newton's best bet is to go play for Mullen, because he doesn't have ANYONE down there that can make the smallest of differences with his offense.

Hey im just acknowledging a good point. I still am holding out hope we get Newton. the only reason we take marve is because he will have a year to sit and learn the O. Newton is def more talented.

That makes two of us, but maybe the coaches know something we dont. We may never know. Now if they took both of em, it would really send us all for a flip.

The amount of work to convert Newton to a under center QB is more than what it would take to convert Marve, IMO. It also, on the other hand, would be nice to have Newton as well in case our O-Line just can block as well as they should and he can make some plays on his feet. I think this is about aptitude and not playmaking. Marve has a head on his shoulders, just a big ego to go with it. If Kiffin can shut his dad up, he will blossom.

Personally, I'd like to see us get Newton, and if he can't win the job outright, at least use him in certain packages, like we did with G. Jones the past 2 yrs...except Newton could hurt a team with his arm when the opponent is expecting a QB option run.

This could be especially effective in red-zone situations...ala Tebow

I know hes looking for a pro style QB but after reading a few post how could you pass up on this guy? Excellent arm and enough mobility to make something happen after the play breaks down.

Usually I wouldnt want to mock something after a gator but if he became a Vol you might be on to something..

Hey guys, just saw some tape at rivals where Jamie Newburg was glowing over Christian Green. He's listed as an "Athlete." Plays QB and Newburg said he has a big-time arm...says he projects him to get a 5* rating before all is said and done.
Not sure that Kiffin really wants a dual-threat guy, but man, how could you lose by not at least giving the kid an honest shot at QB, and if it looks like he'll be buried on the depth chart, move him to WR?
6'2" 4.46

definitely has the measurables.

Marve, Newton, and Green as your variable (3rd QB)
That's my new wishlist...

Christian Green is an ATH that is going to play WR at the next level. He already has come to this conclusion.

We are recruiting him, but at the WR position.

Matt, Sab, and GHEric are like the three stooges...and I mean that in the nicest way possible!

You see what I did for you, Matt? You are mentioned in the same breath as Eric and myself. Pretty soon the whole interwebz is gonna know you!
