I think Hendrixs will be one of the 2 QBs we sign. He is NOT an early enrollee. Catholic League schools in Cincinnati don't allow mid-term graduations. I don't know on otehr prospects on our list

I posted this in the other Cam Newton thread figured i would post it here also.

Cam Newton went to high school & played on the same football team as one of my best friend's @ Westlake High in Atlanta, Ga. Cam is a BEAST of an athlete!! He has a cannon for a arm. The only problem with him is his accuracy, i watched the Florida spring game last year i think it was & Newton was throwing ball's over reciever's heads, at their feet, way out in front of them. I think after that spring game he dropped to 3rd on the depth chart behind Tebow & Brantley.

Hmmmm

I would rather have accuracy over arm strength.

I get the impression that Kiffin and Company have more confidence in their ability to develop accuracy than they do in developing arm strength.

Crompton will test that theory this fall.

there are limits to what you can do with either, but coaches can definitely impact accuracy more than heat.

Orlando Sentinel - Exclusive: QB Cam Newton to transfer to Texas JC by

I have heard he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. As you can see in the article, he never did anything in HS so he couldnt have been too bad.

I also think being stuck behind Tebow until his senior year played a role too

I thought this part of the article was interesting because it pretty much tells us for sure that he will definitely be part of the 2010 recruiting class instead of possibly being able to transfer and play this year.

"Cam had a great experience at Florida. We just feel Cam has all the tools to play at a major college level. He's going to start this new chapter of his life and become re-recruited next year."

If he does sign with UT, I can already hear the rival fans saying we are Thug U just because of Newton and Hood. All well

Dude, Rival fans have called us UThug for years and alabama fans for SOME odd reason call us UcheaT...No idea why they call us that but then again they are alabama fans and not too bright so I never asked :good!:

Oh yeah, I know it is nothing new, but you know this only will add fuel to their fire. I personally dont think there is a SEC school (other than vandy, etc) that can say anything about players with criminal problems.

Bro We got a cup named after our former coach that We have never even won...I wouldn't worry too much about all that, Every team has players that have some bad history to them.

His situation is exactly like Brent Schaeffers situation. They both left a D-1 program and went to junior college. Brent was mid-August completing his JC work and graduating in order to get into Ole Miss. Don't be surprised if that is not same situation with Newton at Blinn. He is in 2010 class.

Decision on him and UT should happen in next few weeks IMO

I hope you are more correct than you realize. Ive read somewhere that Schaeffers decision to play at Ole Miss was due in large part to the fact that he hoped to get to play and beat the team that had dismissed him. Id be recruiting him with the "beat your old coach and show him what a mistake it was to let you go" card.

Kiffin probably wants him at spring practice before starting in the fall.

Once you acknowledge the fate of the 2009 season has been cast (years ago), having whoever is the starting QB for 2010 in spring drills would be extremely advantageous for us. Cam has prior SEC experience and can start then. That's hard to beat.

Are any of the 2010 QB's on our list planning a January enrollment?

I've heard mention that Heaps was wanting to enroll early so he could get in and get prepared. Nothing on Scroggins, Legaux or anyone else.

how would he have gotten to play UT unless he truly thought OM would get to the SECCG

With timing and our needs at UT, the guys coming early seem to have a distinct advantage for the fall 2010 start.

This looks like Cam (early start and likely 2010 starter) and Hendrix (who'll benefit from getting a season under his belt before competing seriously for the job in 2011) to me... and that would be awesome.

I'm not sure why we would want Cam, after we just told Taj Boyd that he wouldn't fit our system. Aren't they the same type of QB? Someone explain.

Cam would be considered a pro style QB if he didn't have amazing athletic ability for a guy his size. He runs a 4.5 at 6'6" and has good accuracy. He has all the tools you want in a pro style QB, he just brings something extra to the table with his escapability. He will be coached to be a run-as-a-last-resort QB.
