'10 IL WR Matt Milton

Not trying to be argumentative here, but the Saints have him listed at 210. Most of the 2007 draft profiles I found around the net have him at 215 or less. And his Rivals profile has him running a 4.40 and apparently ran a 4.39 for NFL scouts.

He was 218lbs at the combine.

Football players are measured by results---championships and on-field production.

You can throw out their forty times and their Rivals rankings once they get to college.

They should before they get here as well. There are three things that I look for in a player when I am looking at their film....

1. Heart. Never stopping until the whistle blows is a key element in separating the hype from the talent.

2. Brains. Watching them as they go down the field and how they read the defenses 10 yards down field before they ever make a cut or a move. Same thing goes for QB's,

3. Coachability. If a kid has a big fish small pond attitude, then he's probably not going to stay here very long. You have to be able to give up your HS identity to become part of a college program. Some are never able to do this and are setup to fail.

Spot on IMO.

He actually shot up to 230 after the draft which caused his knee problems.

FWIW Milton told my brothers gf he wants to play at UT after his recent visit and was raving about the school how he got MVP. She said, your not good enough to play there and he said BS, I can play there lol.

Now we are talking about a kid who changes his mind week to week, but hey thats what he said. Also, hes been sporting a lot of Mizzou, Illinois and UT gear lately. Could be a top 3 without him coming out and saying it yet.

I sure wish he would go ahead and commit, then. Could make Scroggin's decision a little easier...knowing he has a big 6'6" target to throw to. People talk about WR's following highly rated QB's, but IMO it can, to some small degree, work the other way as well.
Today we got 2 OL commits and getting a commit from Milton would show Jesse that he's going to have loads of talent around him (especially with a loaded backfield featuring BB). After watching footage of his USC camp, Scroggins WILL be starting next fall (seeing that he plans to graduate early and enroll in the Spring) if he chooses to come here.

Isn't this one a little tough to get a read for on film?

It is good that we will have a big reciever but I thought that I heard somehwere on here that he had fallin on our coaches recruiting board. If thats the case does that mean they think we will miss out on some more notable targets like Prater?

I don't remember who said that, but it revolved around the belief that Milton had cooled on the Vols and his dad's illness (resulting in a previous cancellation) was just a cover-up. Whoever said that was inferring that his cancellation of a visit was why they had stopped recruiting him as hard.

I forget who said it or how credible they were, but getting Milton on campus in June and seeing him workout changed all that (if it ever was in fact true).

no problem.

I just read a Scout article where Milton was asked about Kyle Prater, and he said they exchange the occasional text message, but haven't talked about schools they're considering.

it's from June 12th, so that could've changed.

if the Vols strike out with Scroggins, I'd like to know if Tommy Rees can help with getting those two.

that would be ridiculous to have 4-5 Illinois commits in one class playing for Tennessee.
