'10 IL WR Kyle Prater

I'm about 2 and a half hours south of Prater and 2 and a half hours north of Milton. I need to make it a point to go watch these kids play on a Friday night early on in the season.

Definitely. If you can see them live as a Vol(or see them that much), you may as well see them live while you can. I am sure they will tear s*** up against high school competition. Just don't come back saying "I was at the game when .... tore his acl". That would not be a good game to witness. That would not be good news for Vol fans. Why my mind went there, I don't know. I am going to think positive. They are going to be healthy and put up 2,000 yards a piece.

Yep, I have not had the chance much over the past years to be close enough to watch UT commits and recruits...I may as well try and take advantage of it.

There is no comparison between TN and Illinois highschool football. Much higher level of talent and competition in Ill.

Prater plays against some good teams at Proviso West. He is in a tough conf. Some of the toughest teams in the state he plays against week in and week out on Friday nights(excluding your Catholic schools).

Miltons competition is considered fair at best. Typically, north of I-80 has the top teams year in and year out in IL.

That does not mean that Prater plays against outstanding personnel and Milton not so much. I just know that Prater is in alot tougher league that typically has better coached teams. Both would look good and do good in orange, IMO.

Haha. Maybe I should stop. I just remember torn acl's all the time in high school. I imagine being that tall makes it even more likely to happen. Heck, look at all of or wide receivers going down in training camp. Probably why my mind went there. Subconscious or something. I feel like Prater will be a Vol and Milton is Tennessee bound. We don't usually get wide receivers with this type of build. It's hard not to worry about them. Getting a wide receiver that is 6-6 or 6-5 is rare. Such a huge asset. I was a huge James Hardy fan. So yeah, I worry about something happening to Milton or Prater(if he commits) because I know how valuable they can be. Game changers.

No doubt. Those Prater high lights were filthy. I'm sure you'll be giddy watching him life. He'll probably make a play that will have you saying "did I really just see that?". Prater being a Vol would make it all the better but I am guessing seeing him would be exciting either way. Milton... he is all Vol and that will definitely make it all the better.

LV, do you think Prater is on that level of Julio and Aj, where they can come in and make a significant impact in the sec?

Yea for sure. I'm not saying he will be as good as them, but he is on that level...

Something that may hurt his production that did not affect Julio or AJ is depth at WR. When both of them stepped onto campus, they were automatically the #1 WR. It may not be that way next year if Prater is a Vol. We will still have Jones, Warren, Moore, Nuke, Teague, etc. and Ambles and Milton aren't scrubs. He will get a huge amount of red zone targets and alot of TDs, but not nearly as many overall targets that he would need to get as many catches and yards as Julio and AJ got...

Prater will start day one. Only person that can prevent that is Milton. Hancock will be gone. He adds a dimension the others do not. It is not for sure where Teague is going to be playing. But I would make a big time bet if Prater is a Vol and healthy he starts day one.

I agree, he will start from day 1, but you missed my point. We will have other options than Prater. He will not be as good (statistically) as Julio and AJ were simply because we will spread the ball around to Jones, Moore, Ambles, Nuke, Warren, Stocker, Milton, Teague, and Rogers. There was not that kind of depth at UGA and Bama when Julio and AJ got there. I would expect Prater to have as many TDs as either one of them. He will easily be the top red zone target...

Good point. We do potentially have nice depth at WR. I would think that a QB would dream of having these kinds of weapons at there disposal.

What I wonder LV is will we use a 3 WR set or two WR and a TE more. Kiffin loved using the TE in the NFL but he had a good one. I think we are going to use a 3 WR. If we get Prater, I see a Prater, Jones, and then the best of a few for final spot. I would bet on Nuke or Moore.

Julio only had 4

1. One reason i have heard that Milton isnt rated higher is the level of competition he plays agianst. I think he will get into the next top 250, but I wouldnt expect him to push for a 5 star...

2. Yeah Prater will play from day one, and if he comes here he will start. Idk if he would start immediately at Okla or USC, which we an advantage for us. I am not as scared of this USC visit as some are because it is expensive to travel to and his family wont like that, I have heard that is a concern here. I really like our chances now.

PS.....This guy enrolling early will make him that much more prepared. If he comes here, I would look for IMMEDIATE IMPACT.

This whole 'not rated higher' thing makes little sense to me.

Do you guys really think Rivals can distinguish ranks among 5.8 rated 4* players across high schools spanning the nation?

FWIW, I don't. His ranking then would be in the range where the highest 5.8 4* WR is ranked to wherever the lowest 5.8 4* is ranked.

I can't believe we're even talking about a 4* not being ranked high enough.

We should reserve this debate for 5.7 3* players.
